Law only see Gambling as the loss and gain of actual money that authorize by the country.

This law is bypass because you are buying an item that is physical or digital items of different currency that is not consider actual money, but rather as points or clips. You can later use those points or clips to exchange for items that is accepted by the corporation. This is why you can buy legally lottery, go to the casino, etc.

The law is always behind time.

I thought the whole deal that keeps it from being illegal is that no matter what you do win something even if it is a shit item. I think it only becomes a problem if you could win absolutely nothing. (even if 99% of RNG trash loot is nothing in most games.)

EDIT

And I mean an issue for MMOs, not real life lottos. Because a real life lotto a kid cannot go and buy, but any kid can go to a store and buy NCoin cards.

Despite an overwhelming opposition, they put them in anyway.  This is turning into a cash grab very quickly.

Kinda have to now that Black desert Online is coming out march 3rd.

Oh and the Divsion, and X-com2.  . . .And and and so many more games that will treat the customers better.

Despite me putting in this message on every single survey I could: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, KEEP RNG BOXES AWAY FROM THIS GAME!

The boxes still made it in. It's a sad SAD day for sure. Thanks NCSoft for taking the surveys to heart. </3

By that logic, scratch lottery cards are consider illegal, but it is not.

No, but they are regulated by law, and quite strictly so... believe me, the world of mainstream video games doesn't want to be under the watchful eye of any gambling agency. Also: There are countries where gambling in any form is prohibited outright, and this game is playable in some of those too... still, as I said, you cannot win money directly through the RNG boxes, only indirectly, so it's not gambling in a legal sense.

No. It's B2P+Item shop.

So, *cricket*ed up.

All depends on what will be in the item shop... right now it looks like all the stuff will be either cosmetic or achievable in game... we'll see about that. What we already know though is: Characters will use shared storage, almost everything will be trade able and the auction house will have fixed prices.

ofc it will have a item shop thats a no brainer .. but what i said is that is unlikely you will HAVE to buy anything other then the game itself to use auction house..

My question is, can the people who open the gambling boxes then sell the items from them in the marketplace?

I don't gamble myself, but in both TERA and SWTOR I would buy cash shop items with real money, sell them in the AH for gold, then buy stuff that other people got from gambling boxes.

Well, there are soulstones and other materials in the boxes, and those are tradeable...

I wouldn't have such an issue with Lottery Boxes except for the fact that the prize drop % is always obscured. It could be 10% or it could be .001%. These gaming companies are currently under no obligation to reveal their rates.

Every single other RMT prize is required by law to disclose rates. Every lottery ticket purchased has the % listed for each prize. Every single scratch ticket has the % listed for each prize. Every single cereal box sweepstakes has % listed per prize. Every single Casino is federally required to show odds% for winning each prize. Yet these game companies have fallen through the cracks because Govt is much slower than technology.

ANY RNG box that is purchased with Real Money or a Real Money Token(btw this is how they skirt the legalities right now) should be required to show %odds for each prize contained within.

Having to show %odds, I think, would curtail a lot of the confusion and would enlighten consumers on exactly what they are paying for.

So I went to their forums and a mod told me no outfits in RNG boxes just dyes.

Yea, but those are dye RNG sets - so there are guaranteed dyes in them, you just don't know what colors exactly. Also, I think they are trade able on the auction house (the dyes, not the boxes).

They're not.

By the way, I like the costume, can I please have the costume? Why can't I have the costume ;w;

Please list %'s on at least the Cashshop RNG boxes.

Could someone better with maths than me calculate the guestimate % chance of winning, assuming the 2 picks of the 14 items with equal probability?

I assume its weighted more towards the filler prizes than the out fit,  I'd just like a absolute maximum % that it could be. (IE, your chances could be much, much worse than this, but don't expect them to be anything more than xxx)

Since they're putting all outfits in the cash shop I wonder if we'll have any left for events. In Taiwan the black padded coat was the reward of Lingzhi mushroom event.

I wonder if NA will even have monthly events like Taiwan. I'm starting to doubt it.

I don't have much to work with. Out of my boxes (142x), have a statistical estimate:

78% Naryu coin

38% Element of Luck

28% Lucky Jewel

(Somewhere here, who cares):  Infernal lord's horn

5.6% Cinderlands brilliant key

4.2% Cinderlands transformation stone

3.5% Moonwater transformation stone

2.1% Gem hammer

1.4% Moonwater brilliant key

Poop%: Costume >:(

It has? I don't really remember reading that...

Not the topic, though.

Yeah you can google it and see for yourself. As for the rng boxes in this game it kind of reminds me of how Aion's cash shop started. Aion is now a 99% p2w game. The way BnS is setup though it would be pretty hard to take it to that extreme.

I highly doubt that - too much work.

I'd also point out that you can enter every single cereal sweepstakes without paying anything.  "No purchase neccessary".  'Cause otherwise it would be illegal gambling.  They change these RNG boxes so we only have to mail in a letter asking for a box, and I'll have no objections to 'em.
