Treasuere tove a rip off or not?

This is my first post on this forum, but I had some time thinking about this treasure trove event from Blade & Soul,  I start to feel is a rip off event to the players. Why that? Cuz at first you buy NC Coin whit real money, then you gamble them to a trove where you can obtain nothing important. And after you open the trove whit the keys you have to pay for the items whit gold,  so in my opinion, the trove is a rip off since we have to pay twice to get an item from it. I say it will be fairer if you buy Key whit NC Coins, then you get the right to choose an item from the opened trove for free. Not to buy it whit gold, paying so 2 times for the same item. Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion, that will be fairer for the players. Just wanted to let my thoughts here about this.

it is not unfair or a rip off because thats how this event is designed.  also the event is rng based which people who participate know and they also know they may not get what they are looking for.

The keys you buy you can see as items that give you access to a special merchant who can sell you items for gold.

If you take off your rose-tinted glasses you will find out that it is actually a rip off, but still fair, as same crap for everyone. Also the people who participate know they probably not get what they are looking for, but hope dies last.

But what access to special Merchant NPC you talk about?

Its a comparison i used. If you think its a rip off, dont participate in it. Or are you being forced by someone to buy keys?

As well it been a comparison i used. For me its still kind of lottery, you try  a lucky shot and rather no investment for your gold. But still, in lottery I got at least a rough guess how good my chances are, but not in here...

Complaining about Trove is like going to casino and gambling up all your money they get mad and yell you feel ripped off. Trove is like a MMO casino. Spend your money smartly. I just buy 100keys and call it quits afterwards

well in casino you may do some rounds at the roulette table and if you don't totally suck in math you got a guess what your chances are ... and that is pretty much not the same as here...

The only rip of are the "Bonus" items after opening a certain amount of troves, i honestly expected that you get all of them, but you have to pick one, which is kinda dumb, since there is an outfit + parts and you cant take all of them, and overall the bonuses are not that great.

3k messages and you got nothing smartest to say that " its not unfair or rip off its how event is designed its rng based"....
Problem is not about gettting what you are looking for its about getting "nothing" i have seen people opening 300k+ and barely see even an outfif

If we compare this to a gamble game/casino wich is rng based or luck... system is simple, when you win, YOU WIN.
But in Blade & Soul they added fake 2 stars and fake 3 stars to bait people, and don't think your not affected by their policy, this game is build entirely on how to make people busy  by proposing unrewarding/time consuming content that will force people to farm nonstop because why not, even if they put low drop rate everywhere/ add fake crit trove/ lower crit/lower mats etc... a "Grimoir" will pop up to tell people it's rng based...ask the broken koreans how they feel about it after 6years.

While I don't trove much anymore, due to lack of luck, I can still open close to 120 chests without paying one hongmoon coin between my characters and premium.  With that chance I could get items of worth up to 15 k ish (unlickely but still could) and possible sell able mats worth a bit less.   Quite often I could end up getting jewels that if I wanted to could NPC for 5 gold each, or basically save me 10 gold... Now if they made it where there was no cost as well, this could potentially cost a huge influx of mats, without taking any gold out of the economy.  I have seen other games where they don't have enough gold sinks and prices get so ridiculous it becomes hard to get player sold items unless you can find a good source of income (gold given in quests and drops literally become obsolete).  As we can have up to 11 characters at that there will be some players pulling 231 chests without paying either, and I am pretty sure NCWest wants to keep a handle on those who are pulling that many times for free.

If they were to make the items free from trove, I could see a severe decrease in mats that could be sold, and possible even more ridiculous odds at getting the good items.  If you are looking into not paying, but taking a risk with hongmoon/nc coins the RNG boxes will probably fit your bill better, it follows the concept of paying once to get an item, but also cost more per pull.

That is the whole definition of RNG.  and i do not belive someone didnt see any outfit in 100 keys since some of the outfit toves are very very common. Unless they are refering to the Omen costume or the wings which are rare, so they shouldnt expect to get them.

Also 2-3 stars arent fake, actually they are happening more often in this trove than the previous ones, half of my guild got 3-star crits with dyads within 50-100 keys. I myself got a 3-star crit with the first 5 keys i used (given items were rather crappy, no dyads, but still).

The point is, this is an RNG event, everyone knows its a rng event, everyone knows you need luck for it, so if you decide to spend the money on keys to participate, knowing what it is, its not a fault of the company, its your on you. You decide to gamble with trove, then take the damn responsibility and admit its your own fault and not shove the blame off.

Personally i think all costumes from trove should be tradable / sellable but we all know aint gonna happen.

Also the game is a grinding game, which most korean mmos are, so your definition of "keeping players busy" thats exactly what these games are intent to do and are doing.

I really dont know in what world your living and maybe you accepted to be scamed by everyone and find them excuses but we don't... When they first released trove system was simple "2 stars = good rewards and 3 stars = excellent rewards" now 3 years later since they know they can scam people they testing new scam strategy and won't change it untill community start to complain massivly...you said it yourself you had a bad "3star crit" with crappy items...

Tell me what kind of rng is that? that the definition of rng? your wrong that the definition of "scaming"...even in real world when you win, YOU WIN, you don't roll again to see if you rather won a lego car or a real car, when you win at casino you win real money, when you pick up right number at lottery you win a good price....you'll see nowhere in a serious gamble "game" prices soo terrible you won't even consider taking it, wich is what happen for some 3stars & 2 stars like you noticed wich is the exact definition of scamming people when you attract them with good prices and they end up with trash items even when its a "bingo"

Let me tell you what happened to me. I used around 100ish keys, everything bought with nomnom coins (translation: hm coin).

I got only the two crits from the guaranteed ones. One was meh and the other was a three star crit with lots of dyad gems. Dyad price is 2500g. I dont really play BNS so I didnt have that much gold lol

I had to sell everything, even my kidney in a stressful 24 hours race because I assumed the trove would reset the next day.

Kinda sucks because when the wreath event started I was thinking of upgrading to aransu weapin for which I would need around 1000-1200g (according to my guess-timate). Everything easy to get from marketplace, no raid required, so I could look cool.

But now I would need to play BNS every day to gather that gold back in mats or whatever. Meh, see ya for the next event

Ascam is when someone promisses you something but does not deliver what they exactly promissed.  / agreed to. thats a scam. This is an rng event, they tell you what you have a chance to get, they never at any given moment tell you something is guaranteed in it. So by purchasing keys you yourself agree to that condition and decide to gamble.

2star crits still give better rewards than the 1star ones. and the 3star ones are the greater rewards. When i said "crappy items" from a 3star crit, it means items that were not useful for me as i didnt need them anymore.

I used another 150 keys today, got in total 4x 3star crits, dyads, oils, hm scrolls and gilded gems. there were rather plenty of the 2 star crits aswel.

Its all luck based , but thats no secret to anyone. People buy keys, gamble knowing darn well its all rng, expecting god knkows what great rewards, then they complain on forums that something is rigged, because thats better than admitting to making a mistake themselves.

300keys super rare on 2 critical unless each 40.

Very well ripped.

400 keys, no 3 star crit, only crap 2 star hits (same exact costumes popping up), so yeah... Never troving again.

400 keys here as well.

1 time i saw a 3 star crit which contained nothing useful.

I saw total 3 times a 2 star crit, with 2x octa gem and 1x vial.

The rest was 1 star till the usual 40/40 2 star crit, which contained mainly materials.

At least I got the Butterfly Effect costume. I am glad I can at least farm my HMC for Troving purpose, many probably not.

Like others have confirmed here or on reddit. This Trove with adjusted rates for 3 star crits is far worse than the previous season Troves.

The ''increase'' in 3 star crits, lowered the 2 star crits heavily. As well the noticeable higher chance to get useless 2-3 star crits.
