Every game is P2W one way or another, they have to keep servers and a staff running somehow...so there will always be one way in which they make money from players willing to spend it. Could be by montly/yearly subscriptions, by actually having to purchase the game, or by selling items through a "cash shop." Name ONE game that isn't P2W...

Yes some game companies may exploit it more than others for faster results but at the end of the day in every single game some players will pay. May not be you, but it will be someone else.

When the event began, my decision was to not spend on the keys, and just use the Hongmoon coins I had saved up to buy 10 keys every day and carry on that way. Over the past week, I've seen lots of BMs instantly get HM block (I'm a BM myself and don't have it), and people get items worth thousands of gold in a single roll (10x premium transformation stones), while I've been saving up gold slowly, farming 4p Yeti and dailies every day. I've gotten to a decent gear level (true pirate weapon, awakened oathbreaker necklace, true oathbreaker ring/earring) by farming over the past few months without spending on anything except a 3 month premium.

While I do enjoy doing the dungeon/faction dailies with my clan, a lot, if not most of my farming has been through F8 since my clan runs only happen at a specific time each night. I've lost motivation to run the same dungeon over and over again to make gold, and I'll never make enough to buy the HM books and upgrade gear at the same time if I stick to just running dailies (Not going to depend on the book dropping, cause *cricket* RNG). So I'm just going to cave in and buy a bunch of keys and hope to hit the jackpot. Even if I don't, I'll be making way more money than I ever would farming through F8.

It's going to save me a ton of time in game, for just a few hours of extra work IRL. All the time saved will definitely be a huge win for me, and I can just focus on the time I spend running with my clan, and actually enjoy every moment of it instead of obsessing over making gold to get stuff (let's face it, I'm human. I WANT MY HM BLOCK ASJGDJASKSAKJDHASJKGAJGF).

Nope! there are plenty of online games that aren't pay to win particularly console games and fps (just about any you can think of) games in which are pretty straight forward in gameplay and don't give any players a specific edge over another yet still give a good refreshing experience each time you play with friends or online.

I cant start up call of duty and pay $100 to unlock everything can I?   Subscriptions keep the servers up, Vault costumes/ items cover everything else. This game has tournaments and merch too.... hell money shouldn't even be an issue.

You seem to fail to understand the difference between paying for a game and paying to be better in a game.  Not to mention I'm sure majority of the players in blade and soul play for either PVP or costume collecting/raiding. People like myself would continue to play for those reasons too. There's absolutely no reason for an event to shell out 600 G items on a whim and break the economy by rushing content.

So wrong, please do go play call of duty, first to pay to buy the game...you pay for supply drops, those supply drops give items that other players don't have access too unless they play the game a lot = farming tokens, second of all in if you bought the season pass you get maps way before theyre released to players who didn't buy season passes. That's in the latest one Black Ops 3. In call of duty: ghosts you can buy the Ripper and Maverick with direct payments, isn't that pay to win?

Every game has a way of P2W one way or another.

Did you even read my post LOL...   Paying to pick up a game off the shelf definitely doesn't make it pay2win nor does paying for more game content.  Map knowledge might help you for the first day or two but again it isint game breaking and wont give you any advantage if you cant aim. Again paying for exclusive classes or w/e doesn't help if you cant aim. Everything boils down to....AIMING and or Teamwork. Atleast im pretty sure it use to in old cod. I've never played the garbage new ones past modern warfare where everything blows up and gives a free kill or a knife to the knee kills you. I can see you have though. Lmao

Edjumacate yourself Peoples!

So you have to upgrade everything to enjoy playing a game with friends?

I would've read the post as normal if you didn't add that part. You make it sound like if you're not crazy rich then you cannot enjoy the game at all.

If you're not enjoying the game just from the content, gameplay, pvp, etc. alone then I can see you being pretty bored once you get all that you want instantly through this event.

But that's just my view on it.

So, if I'm not wrong, this is how it suppose to be for "majority" of the unhappy f2p warriors.

Stop being lazy and look a few posts above. I answered it there.

Well this is why I wrote it - I did read and found nothing productive, just pain claims everyone mentioning P2W is completely wrong. Not helping.

Ahahahaha, good laugh :)

But yeah, many don't understand that P2W is just a business model and get very defensive about it (like above). Sure, devs have to eat too and writing cool games is not just to please us.

I can see few parts missing in your analogy.

Cashier hangs sign on the door. Come and visit our Mac Donalds on Sunday. We will have little chess competition and everybody will have equal chance to win a car, regardless he is ordering or not, just those who do not order will have to win more games. Everybody call your friends !

later on Sunday:

Cashier:

Hello, welcome. Everybody who did not order plz sit at side of chessboard with pawns only. But for each order you can get bishop, rook and if you are lucky Queen at your disposal. Most skilled champion will win the car !

Not that Mac Donald has every right to do so, it just doesn't change the fact that sign is pure lie.

But ye, nothing in life comes free :-)

Hi,

Software companies are not associations, they have to make profits.

F2P is a reliable business model, it's up to the players to buy or not extra-stuffs.

Free advice n°1: don't spend more than a console game.

Free advice n°2: people who didn't follow advice n°1 should not go in casinos ;)

Hi, your sentance wrongly suggests, that it's first part is in relation to the second part, both of which are completely right on their own, but are also completely unrelated.

Let's look more into it:

"F2P is a reliable business model" - true, it is

"it's up to the players to buy or not extra-stuffs" - absolutely, noone is forcing you to buy, obviously

However, the first part of the sentance suggests, that in the secons part we still talk about F2P game. Which is either wrong or incomplete assumption.

Why?

Well, depends on the "extra stuff" - if it affects the gameplay balance, then we are talking about P2W, not F2P any more. If it does not affect the gameplay balance - e.g. costumes, skins, etc, then yes, both parts of the sentance can be put in relation, but this is not the case with the event, which is being discussed in the current topic.

But that's just my view on it.

You're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I enjoy playing with my friends, but that only happens for 1-2 hours each night.

Up to this point, I've farmed all the content multiple times, and have been slowly upgrading my character. But the content is so repetitive that it's not fun anymore unless I'm running with my friends. However, if that's the only time I run, I would never make enough gold to upgrade my gear and get HM skills, etc.

Do I want to get my HM block? Absolutely. Do I want to run 4p Yeti a whole bunch of times again or spam 40/40 dailies everyday to make 250g for it? Absolutely not. I've done enough of both. I think it's a terrible investment of my time. It's many hours over many days, something well spent in either other games or doing productive stuff. I would gladly cash in to save myself from the trouble of farming content I find is already boring.

When new content comes out, I'm going to learn it and enjoy it. But as far as current content is concerned, I'm done with it, except for when I'm playing with my clan/friends. Whether my gear is maxed or not doesn't matter when I'm playing with them. Just doing silly stuff in dungeons/SSP/Misty over discord is fun. Gear has absolutely nothing to do with it.

TL;DR

I want my HM block. I'll cash in to save myself time and the boring grind, and won't get bored playing with my friends even if my gear is maxed.

So far the best things i gotten were frozen darts, moonstone, a naryu tablet, soulstones, and i forgot. I don't really care about the new costumes since they are just recolored versions of two old costumes but i sure want those sexy gems.

in your dreams you may get a gem. cash wallet warriors open hundred chests with all rows unlocked just to get 1-2. some open way more than 100 to get 1. those gems are super duper extremely rare to get them. no p2w at all
