I find what you said rude. You make it seem like it's a bad thing to take offense to something.

Its not bad to take offense to something, but if you are personally offended by it you should handle it by personally blocking that person so you do not see it anymore. It solves the issue instantly with that person.

Because of how laid back people are with these subject is why the community of every game is toxic. We are not even bothering to educate these gamers how to be a social individual then we wonder what the hell is going on with our society. These behaviors are more present when people know they can get away with it. We need to remove that thought from peoples mind so people can behave their age.

Yeah you can lock your self in your room and hide from the world because it offends you.. but that won't fix the world. Confronting it and standing by your beliefs will. If you want your kids around these type of communities or the kids of your kids, and then wonder why the bad grades in school or all the foul languages.. just remember you could of done something :3 but now you have a fd' up kid. lol

Man I could go on forever on how peoples kids are *cricket*ed up at this point (and not because of the lack of chat moderation on online games) and it seems to be very common in certain countries vs others.

You have the block feature for this.

The games 18+ for a reason. If you get offended that's your problem. Unless someones directly attacking you with no way for you to block it, then you should consider seeking help from adults.

Otherwise, BE the adult and block it.

Save the reports for gold sellers, otherwise you do even more damage in reporting people who use words that make you angry by taking the staff's focus away from REAL threats.

You Hypocritical-politically correct people are the same that complain about censorship in this game and then scream on the forums to censor others when something you don't like appears in your face.

Yes, you should block them, definitely.

On a side note though, their stupid parents could do the sensible thing and don't let their kids on to the internet or online games that are rated M for mature (18+ in most countries).

If someone is offensive, we do everything right by calling it out on the forums, because, guess what, that's what forums are for. Debates. Not a one-sided agreement pact where everyone has to agree with the elitist pricks that ruins these kind of games.

Nobody should turn a blind eye to offensive, aggressive behaviour, especially if it is targetted towards specific people.

There is a very real reason why this game is rated M for mature, it's just that there are so many horrible parents out there that lets their kids do anything and doesn't care what it is they're doing. I've seen bad parenting and i've seen the after effects of bad parenting a lot over the years.

Here's one example of bad parenting...

A kid (Looked like he was 13 years old, and sounded like it) wanted to buy a game rated M for mature (18+) at a local retailer in my town. The store clerk says no, this game is 18+ and i will need to see your ID.

The kid starts screaming in the store, then runs out to get his mother.

His mother then comes in, starts shouting at the store clerk to give her son the game.

She goes into a rage.

The store clerk calls the store manager and he calls the cops.

Kid then gets placed in foster care a week later.

Turned out, his mother was an alcoholic and couldn't care for her child in a sensible manner.

Parents are the ones to blame, however, that does not excuse the behaviour of their kids in any way. If these players are adults, then i can't help but feel sorry for them, for having the mental capacity of a 10 year old. Sadly, there are even parents with the mental capacity of a 10 year old who shouldn't even have kids in the first place...

The last instance to blame is the game developers for letting these kids into their games. There should be more ways to block kids from playing these games. I.e a credit card check and age verification process where you have to add your social security number etc. After all, there's no way to fake a social security number.

I honestly would not mind if social was a requirement for games nowadays. If it promises a safe and fun environment then sure whatever.

this is a +18 game so yes there will be Extremely offensive chat.

so stop crying about it soon you will find  other thing to cry about

so deal with it if u dont like the game dont play it no one will miss u :)

First of all, this isn't an 18+ game. It's rated M (generally suitable for ages 17 and up) not AO (suitable only for adults ages 18 and up). There's a big difference between the content of those two ratings.

Second, regardless of the M rating, the kinds of names and chat that OP is talking about are against NCSoft's Rules of Conduct for the game and are reportable. You can't use the kind of language you'd use in the comments section on RedTube and tell everyone else they have to deal with it.

And thirdly, FFS, the kinds of names that people are coming up with because they think they can get away with it due to the M rating are extremely juvenile. If you want to play an M-rated game, show some maturity or don't be surprised if you get reported.

I can't agree with parents being the sole cause, as there is hundreds of variables, their school, their friends,  the TV they watch. There are many parents that believe they have saints but have no idea what their child is really doing. As for any adults that are being toxic, you can't do anything and a ban or chat mute from a GM won't give them an epiphany for their behavior.

The security check will not work, we already know these children are horrible, they will swipe their parents wallet and fill it in. System bypass in a minute. It will lessen the amount but not solve the issue.

Wooo, way to blow this thread and it's point out of proportion...

In all honesty people, it's time to evolve a bit. If someone is talking something and you have a problem with it, just ask them on a pm why they say that. If it's for the lulz then it's none of your business and you can take personal measures to get rid of that particular annoyance (or just ignore it as a whole. It's an 18+ game people, it's not like you're going on an official dinner or something). The world isn't made for lazy people that just expect problems to go away on their own. NOTHING goes away on it's own, except climate related things, life and the IQ of demented people. Keep that in mind ^^

Oh, but it IS the parents fault. THEY are the ones who should raise their kids, teaching them the right from the wrong, the good and the bad.

THEY are the ones responsible for making sure they're kids behave in public.

The parents are at fault for neglecting their kids and for ignoring their duties as parents.

THAT is why kids rebel and turn into the monsters you meet in online games.

Yes, there MAY be other elements playing in, but they only play a very minor role in how they behave.

No, a ban on these kids will not do anything to them personally, but it would mean that we'd get an actual mature community to play with, rather than shit flinging 12 year olds with a stick the size of a minivan up their bums.

As for the kids being toxic, it's what they learn from other kids because their parents aren't teaching them right from wrong etc.

I don't like this idea that we should just block and ignore because the game is rated for "mature" audiences. I thought that was a rating regarding the game content and not the vitriol of a bunch intolerant, racist, homophobic and misogynistic men who go out of their way to reinforce the stereotype that gamers are poorly socialised misfits who live in their mother's basements.

If that talk is not acceptable in public, on the  train, in the workplace or your school, it should not be acceptable a public chat. Maybe the trolls should start their OWN chat or go to the /b board on 4chan.

As we say in Australia, "don't be a bl**dy w**ker." Maybe MizzAus missed the multiple national news stories about racist verbal attacks on public transport and how unacceptable the rest of us Aussies find it?

Ignoring the problem, or telling someone to harden up, is in  my mind bold faced approval for the behaviour of these people and acceptance of their beliefs.

So, who would like to out themselves as racist, homophobic, misogynistic and all around ignorant/intolerant?

I come from the moba community and fps community, this chat is carebear material in comparison. Use the block feature if you get offended, but IMO this chat is not that bad at all. Wait for ncsoft to remove goldspammer from regional and maybe the faction chat get a little more to your liking.

My bad, assumed someone else did their homework and checked it. According to a trailer I just watched it's pegi 16. I stand my case though. If the game has the profanity flag, it's nobody's job to monitor that. Also pretty much EVERY MMO EVER has the profanity flag.

A parent can only guide their child, unless you have forgotten a child still has their own mind and no matter how much a parent tries to mold it, its not a guarantee it will conform to what the parent wants.

I don't think anyones ignoring the problem but giving people a way to instantly solve their issue until the game implements a way to deal with it.

This is true. It is also true that if find something offensive. Well that is you're own fault.  You have to develop ways of dealing with it, other than crying out, "I'm offeneded."  after 11 years in the U.S. Army the small things like this that people complain over is just annoying. I don't find a lot of whats said in online games offensive, I've seen far worse. Besides most of the time the "offensive chat" is just someone parroting something they read online, trying to be cool and gain attention. This is what the BLOCK function it for. It's time to put on your big boy, or girl, pants and learn to handle such things without complaining.

Toxic behaviour should not be acceptable anywhere.

Ignoring a problem is the same as adding to the problem.

Toxic behaviour needs to be taken care of as fast as possible, otherwise it'll just escalate.

Ignore and move on. It's way easier than being offended by everything you don't agree with. Freedom of speech is there for a reason. If someone can rant about shit I don't like I should be able to do the same. The nice thing is we have tools in place to walk away if we don't like what we are hearing/reading. Take some ownership. I will never understand how some people think the rest of the world is expected to know their specific comfort level and hot buttons. That world will never exist so just focus on the things you can control such as your level of attention to what it is you don't like. Trying to have someone police everything for you is not the answer.

You're just adding to the problem here with your statements.

As i said previously, toxic behaviour should not be accepted anywhere.

Everyone is different and handles/process information verbally or through text differently and you can't expect everyone to be acting the same way you do when faced with such toxic behaviour from other players.

The game is rated by the ESRB/PEGI for content. The ESRB/PEGI rating doesn't govern what behavior is allowed by players - the Rules of Conduct do.

This is rated M by the ESRB, which is "generally suitable for ages 17+". The ESRB also has an 18+ rating called AO, which is "suitable only for 18+". It's rated PEGI 16 in Europe. There is also PEGI 18. The ratings lower than those are ESRB Teen (13+) and PEGI 12.

FWIW, it was originally rated 18+ in Korea, but the rating was lowered to 15+ by changing the appearance of blood. It should also be pointed out that pornography is illegal in Korea, so it's not like a rating of 18+ means "anything goes" there.

Freedom of speech works both ways buddy.

I use mine to call out these toxic numbnuts who seem to get a hard on every time they make a toxic comment or verbally abuse others.
