I'm a little confused...

I'm new, I started playing on Monday and was rather enjoying the game so far.  I didn't understand the reason the auction house was locked out, but I eventually leveled up enough to unlock it and upon finding some really nice looking stuff, I quickly bought a bunch of Ncoins and then used the Currency Exchange to make my character all pretty with weapon and outfit skins.  I greatly enjoyed this.

Today I signed in to play and went to pull up the auction house again and got the message that I was not allowed to use that feature till level 35.  Did I do something wrong to get blocked from the auction house for three more levels?  Was I not supposed to spend money on the game making my character pretty?   I had discovered another outfit that I loved the look of from the F3 Showroom thing and rushed to see if it was on auction so I could find out how much and how much more Ncoin I needed to get to afford it... but it seems I'm blocked from doing that?

Why aren't I allowed to spend money on the game?  That seems so crazy for a F2P game that sells stuff, and I've played a lot of FTP games with microtransactions.

So did I do something wrong, or do they just not want my money?

No you didn't do anything wrong. They just decided to change it to lvl 35 for all. No one understands why they did that though.

I know this might sound silly, but my character appearance is really important to me and I find it hard to get into a game if I can't make a character that I like the look of early on.  I don't want to suffer through a lot of time where I dislike my character's appearance to try and reach a level when I'm finally allowed to do something about it.   I'm not sure the game will hold my interest long enough to ever get there if I'm denied the ability to change my character's appearance ...even when I'm willing to spend my money to do so.

So I really don't understand why they would want to stop me from giving them my money and push me away from the game.

Really wish I had known they did stupid stuff like this before I invested so much already, but I refuse to get stuck in the Sunk Cost Fallacy and keep playing/paying something past the point of enjoyment.

Thank you for the reply.

Reaching lvl35 is like 3-4 hours of play time. It's not a big deal to just lvlup and buy whatever you want from the market. Reaching 60/13 and completing the story is like 30 hours of hard play and after that you can enjoy the game as much as you like and play it the way you like. Unlocking all the features the game have is a bliss.

You know you can't buy >95% of the outfits in the auction house anyway only very few outfits in this game are tradeable. If not being able to buy any outfit you want right away and getting to lvl 35 without it is already to much for you and makes the game not enjoyable then i guess you won't have much fun here..

I have more than that into the game so far and I'm only a level 32, but then again I've been told it was because I screwed up, as a new player, and instead of skipping everything and just rushing through the yellow quests, I actually did all the quests and watched the videos because, since it was a new game, I was curious about the lore and the game world.  If new players are going to be punished for actually doing the content and trying to learn about the story, then they really should just remove all that extra stuff as it is apparently a trap for unsuspecting new players like myself.

I don't know about that, but when I could access the market place I did find a lot of neat weapon skins and outfits and had the need to use the Currency Exchange to get 1500 gold right away for the first things I wanted, which took a bit of Ncoin.  There were more things I was interested in but I guess because I screwed up and cared about the lore and the world and took my time with the quests and videos, I fell well behind where I should have been level wise for the time invested so far.

I don't know, I haven't had the game up since and I keep considering giving it another go.. but all these traps and tricks to screw over new players really makes me hesitate to do so... because if it is like this as early in as I am... what will I run into later?

Only characters who are Level 36 and higher are able to use the Marketplace, send mail to other characters, and trade with other characters.

They introduced this with the last patch. Befor this patch you had to be Level 16 when i remember corectly. There was a quest, when you reached Jadestone Village, that introduced the Market.

I'll guess the main reason for the change, was to stop goldsellers who still spam the chat from time to time.

Anyway one thing they totaly forget, when you reach cinderland you get 2 windstride quests and you need 2 items for this quest (at the deva), bothe items are tradable and at least one was craftable with crafting guild.

Since you are Level about 20-23 you are screewed cause you cant buy these items anymore and you cant even ask someone to buy it for you cause you cant trade.

So either you kill a ton of mobs and hope they will drop these item and kill the deva a lot of times to use the wheel and also hope it will drop the other item, or you have to wait till you are Level 36, buy the items and do the quest then. I dont know if they reduced the devas HP so you can do it solo with the level you have when you reach this fieldboss.

If not you are also screewed since there are not much players around to help in this area.

Another thing regarding the weapon skins. Most of them are level 50+ Weapons. When i leveld my last alt i could buy the skins from the Market but i couldnt unseal them, i always had to ask a friend to unseal it for me, so i can use it as skin. I dont know wether they changed it again. Long time ago you could at least unseal higher weapons, use them as skin but couldnt equip them.

I get that about how you assume players are screwed out of buying dragon bone but lets face it this only effects new players which at today's current price (yura) would probably not have enough gold at the level for the quest being able to buy it since the market is player driven. But at the same time only doing Story will get you to level 36 within a few hours (3-4 if your new and not really know where to go). What other item do they need to buy pre 36? After Dragon Bone, story gives you the serpent calling bell, a purf. jar and you buy the other items from the faction merchant until you reach solak which puts you at 60 now beforehand that allows you to buy the kirin / chi flux.

Weapons have a requirement in order to use them as a "skin" so as example your level 2 but want to skin your training weapon with say Golden Deva. You need to be min. Level 3 in order to do so. You basically need to be the level of the weapon you want to use as a skin in order to apply it / open it even. Pretty much all weapon skins unlock @ level 50 which goes pretty quick (takes me 2 days to get done with story and ready for raids via side story)
