A lot of things went wrong in this act.
After jyansei learned that ryu is a bad guy and that he killed one of her students she did nothing.
Mushin was going to kill yunma fei she did nothing.
She has the power of the eight masters, the sacred beasts and the mark of the black rose and she lose to ryu.
Do the writers forgot about how strong the character is or they want to make him as sap as possible?
I hope the writers will make the story better in the next arcs.
Jyansei need more powerfull allies-students and she needs to start acting more like a hero not like a scared girl after all shes been through.

five sixths of the plot so far has been kept together by plot armor. The only parts that make sense, are the ones where we gather the sacred beast energies. I think the problem is that NC's writers can't decide if this is supposed to be just high fantasy or also power fantasy, as in some arcs it's more one than the other and vice versa for other arcs.

 

In the case of Ryu, The issue is that the writers decide for us, what kind of character we are playing. The Cricket is depicted as someone of pretty much infinite compassion for their loved ones. What's the problem with that? Nothing. The problem is that the plot doesn't take the steps to make us care  about any of the characters, due to the lack of "time" and involvement. Let's face it, the world of BnS is not a convincing simulation. It doesn't have the necessary flow to host this epic, nor does the epic account for the shortcomings of the simulation. And here we are, our character being held back by feelings for a misguided/polluted apprentice, and us, being unsatisfied cause we definitely don't feel the same way. It's a shoehorned experience, hence the general lack of appeal the story has once you get into the nitty gritty parts.

We're like Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu. Just like they get nerfed every new season/region, so does our main character.

Not really, you missing point of this act, at the end Jinsojun says - welcome to my world, I had a dream that I had family and friends, and now all that left is...
