Hated
It't nice that you tell us earlier now :3 But could also start maintenance like 5h earlier in the future. Because you know, we on the old continent are also paying for the game, and it is kinda depressing that we can't play the game on patchdays. Thanks.

This particular maintenance is longer than usual, so we wanted to let the players know as early as possible. There are a lot of things happening to make a release happen, with multiple teams directly involved in every maintenance. Sometimes they're able to complete the work fast, sometimes not. We're sorry that it will affect your playing experience, but hope you'll be back in the game soon to experience the new content!

Does this work still include weekly resetting the Crimson NPCs in Hao Village, in Zaiwei? Always wanted to ask that... NunoGralha
@Green Storm Something u could actually discuss with the team, make the maintenances bit sooner so EU players don't have to wait for the next day to actually play the game..

I think they already start maintenance at 4 am, you can keep dreaming but no one would agree to start earlier, how about you? Would you like? not me. I never paid attention to the NA timer honestly.. never in all the years of BnS. Does this mean.. the devs start the maintenance at 4 in the morning? Like for real? and people still tell them to start earlier 😄 Well that is.. Something. Hopefully they are still OK after doing a very early morning maintenance every week

They have offices in California, Texas and Washington. Washington and California are on GMT-7. Texas is on GMT-5 and GMT-6, but the office is in Austin which is GMT-5. Since they start at 1pm GMT+0, this means that: - Time at Texas' office: 8am - Time at California and Washington: 6am The NA server used to be in Dallas, before moving to AWS. My guess is that the office in Texas is the one that does the maintenance. So, NO, the maintenance starts at 8am in Texas. Probably it is office opening time. So yes i would think 2 hours earlier would be a pain. You still have to wake up and drive to work before that 6 am start time as well. These devs probably wake up at 4-5 in the morning. EU/NA doesn't have devs. The people doing the maintenance probably do it in their regular shift. But this is me just guessing. Still, the root of the issue is the huge time that maintenance takes. EU players are always punished with these long maintenances, while NA users still can enjoy their afternoon time to play. But seriously, reducing the maintenance times should be one of the goals. This means less scary time, more time for EU players to work, less time for the GMs to think of new ways to make 10 Honing Oils sound better... It's a win-win! You know what i meant, You don't have to nitpick the word "Dev" i just did not want to write "these people" as that sounded derogatory and i just put another word there. gendar
Would be cool to know what takes that long, wow for example has 30 min maintenance where bns has 3 hours and 3-4 hours on massive patchdays. The playerbase is at least 100 times bigger, so the odds should be on their side. For general understanding it would be a definite plus to know if anything regarding devops is planned or if the maintenancewindows might even get longer. Cupidstar
Just now, gendar said: Would be cool to know what takes that long BnS has no failover at all, so, my guess is that they copy all the data to another server. The game server runs on Windows Server, so, that's going to take quite a long time. Then, there's OS updates and restarting the server. And don't forget that the state of the game is reset every week. In UE3, all NPCs and mobs found in inaccessible areas had to be reset as well. Since the server is mostly the same, I doubt this changed. The remaining of the time is to calculate the ranking and prepare the rewards. This is just a guess. If BnS had a failover server, they could switch servers every week, and all this patching and stuff could be made a lot shorter.
