At what point does matchmaking work?

 

I keep getting matched with gold ranked players and I have yet to break 1500 points, let alone the 1600 to get gold myself. The queue time of just 2 seconds to instantly match with a gold rank makes me wonder if the game is looking for matches at all. The worst part is when I get the same player back-to-back (4 times consecutively with one of the top PvPers in one case). Is this the norm in Arena? To constantly fight gold-ranked players instead of those ranked similarly around me is off-putting.

 

To make matters worse, losing to a higher rank lowers my points so much. It'd make sense if we were able to gain their rank for beating them, but that's not the case at all. I won against a gold-ranked player once and only received 31 points. But for the most part, wins net me only 11 or 12 points, whereas losses are anywhere from 34 to 58. That means even with a 3:1 win ratio, I would not break even and would continue to have a deficit. Am I to believe everyone ranked gold has at least a 4:1 win ratio?

There are 2 reasons for this: 1st our playerbase is super small in arena we starting with gold rank we have litterly like 30 players maybe and their alts.

How much points you get depends on how much points ur enemy has. 1600 vs 1450 means if 1450 wins = 31 but if 1450 loses = -8. System is supposed to search at a maximum of 150 rating difference but if que is really dead it can go up to 200 to my experience. Cause balance is super bad since awakening patch and every patch makes it worse instead of better we`ve lost so much players that you will not be able to find alot of players in this game anymore which means system needs to search in a wide range.

The problem is the queue isn't dead. I was "matched" in 2s in each of the cases hence my complaint that it's not looking at all--especially if it finds me the same player back-to-back multiple times. I've had rematches with a Destro 4x, a KFM 3x, another KFM 2x, a SUM 2x, a BM 3x, and another BM 3x in the last week alone.

What does this tell you ? Que is unable to find another player close to your rating so they need to let you play with the same guy over and over again. This is what we call a dead que.

 

If you now also look at the player now you encounter you will notice very fast most of them are alts. Some people including me gave nc suggestions how to make PVP alive again but well we complain sinmce years they dont care about pvp. Best thing we got so far was dmg reductions in 6v6 but for some reason they forget to also nerve the strongest classes again.

It doesn't get any better at gold. Once I broke through 1650, I've exclusively got matched against three classes and in some cases, against the same guy over 6 times in one day, while he was playing an extremely unbalanced class that mine can never hope to beat. It took hours to regain my old ranking and by then I knew that if I queued again I'll have to go through the same cycle.
