HM seed shroud stage 1 not working?

Okay, so I got the HM seed shroud stage 1 unlocked with fateful tome.  Then I went to test it on someone.  And I didn't notice any difference.  Maybe my testing was bad.  

 

I was testing the Rumblebees stage 3 effect.  Supposedly you get to cast Rumblebees stage 3 instantly for 3 secs and with 550% attack power.  But in my testing, after I countered with the HM seed shroud, I didn't get 3 seconds to cast Rumblebees instantly, also the damage was the same after I countered as before I countered.

did you unlock the left side of seed shroud or just the right?  I did it just fine.

I thought it wasn't working for a while, because I assumed the buff effect happened only when you use party seed shroud, not regular seed shroud. Turns out it's on regular seed shroud, which is awesome since the cooldown is only 8s.

Spec down the left-hand side, s3 bees, counter with regular 4, and you should glow and see the bees buff.
