Utility of Piercing in PvE

I would like to know if piercing stat is useful in PvE, and if so, how much % of it should I aim for (in other words, how much defense bosses usually have).
Please post any confirmed information, and include source; Or post your personal tests, with short description how and where testing was done.

piecing is not useful in PVE. It is mainly used in PVP to damage through enemies's critical defense. 

 

Usually in PVE, players will get accuracy and critical damage/rate because it is nearly impossible to get every stats to max. If you ask people, people will prefer elemental damage/critical damage over piecing in PVE.
