What's the deal with Pierce Damage ^?

Fire Blademaster here, lvl 25. 

Pierce has two options. The Range+ option, or the Damage+ option. 

The Range+ option lets you hit multiple opponents. 
The Damage+ option does the same amount of damage as the Range+ option, except it is single-target only. Their tooltips are exactly the same besides that. 

What gives?

There's a difference between them on the hongmoon skills.

If Im not wrong, then this skill is on the basic stance. Once you get to a higher level, you will barely use the basic stance, since the draw stance does most of your damage and you will want to stay in it to tank/do a lot of dps.
