Toi issues?

I'm not 100% sure how toi works, so can someone please explain it to me?

Originally I thought it was performance and speed based - how fast you killed an enemy determined how far you moved.

But for 8 runs straight I've ended up on the same floors regardless of if i beat the opponent in 20 seconds or a minute and 30

40-41 to 45, my final being on 49

and it's halted my progress 100%

How many floors you go up after a win is based on how long it takes you to down your opponent and the highest attained floor affects what floor your next run will start at until the end of the mini-season which will reset you to floor 1 again.
