Did I miss something?

I haven't noticed this before but now that I started leveling up SF I noticed that I no longer get additional gem slots after weapon evolution. Did they change that or what happened?

Apparently new players only start with 1 gem slot and have to open them with gem hammers. RIP new players. Very new player/alt unfriendly game and decisions.......

Previously whenever you evolved your weapon from the moonwater path to the silverfrost path you got a random roll of 1-6 slots no matter how many you had before. This is okay in other versions since they give out gem hammers like candy. They're pretty damn rare in our version though so when we got it when we weren't supposed to there was quite the uproar. The compromise was that we wouldn't lose slots on the reroll upgrade, but the new charactesr no longer get the free temporary slot from upgrading.
