It’s a cheap tactic, but it isn’t “illegal”. Every player should know what the maximum they are willing to pay for an item and be prepared to pay up to that amount.

Also on a side note… you missed a spot *points to bottom left corner*. I’m fairly sure I’ve ran into you before in the cross server

Well, this is why the bidding system is utterly stupid. And why I'd rather solo to avoid it, since it encourages bad behavior.

 

I saw something similar in a Brightstone Ruins cross-server run, where a warlock bid on a Forgotten Brightstone axe despite there being one destroyer in the party that probably needed it, until the bid got past 1 gold, and then let the the destroyer have it.
