Weapon Upgrade True Siren -> Oathbreaker

So I had this weapon going on.

I upgrade from True Siren to Oathbreaker.

Apparently my socket. from 3 to 2.

Is this a bug? or why is this even happening?

That's the unfortunate side of Oathbreaker path.. It does reset your gem socket, and it's not a bug.  It will reset your gem socket randomly, from 1-full (6 sockets)

 

supposedly that "feature" would be fixed at June 1 maintenance when NCsoft will finally rremove pirate weapon path (thus True profane will head straight to oathbreaker instead of siren weapon path)
