I think I've seen someone randomly raising the bid to 1g once, trying to bait me into quickly bidding over him. I just passed. You just need to be careful when it comes to money and if you see someone bid large amounts pass ASAP so he has no time to leave.

 

I have a habit of manually writing the prices anyways. And I do intentionally raise the minimum of tens of silver so people stop copper-bidding (at *cricket*ing lv45).
