Game freezes and low fps

Recommended Posts

Hey community, hi support,

I don't really know where to put this, but I already asked a couple of people in-game trying to help me with this issue, so I guess might aswell try here.

So here's the story: My game usually runs at 40-60 fps (MSP, Tower, random dungeons, etc.). But since a couple of months, I get random days when I only get around 10 fps in the tower lobby and around 27 in empty areas. When doing MSP my game literally freezes until the boss is dead. Opening my inventory takes 2 seconds between hitting "I" and actually having the window pop up.

The weird thing is I can't reproduce the issue. Some days its back to normal and some others the game is unplayable. Things I have tried so far:

-Untick some UI settings someone was recommending to me (something with reflex pop up or something)

-Lowest possible graphics settings

-Updating drivers

-Fresh install of the game

-Disabling any anti virus software

-Checked firewall policies

My system specs:

-OS Win 10 v1809

-Intel i7 6700k

-GeForce 1080ti

-32 GB RAM

I'm playing on the 64-bit client btw. I tried 32-bit but it usually crashes after something like 30 minutes.

Cheers

The fact that it's random like that makes me think it's something to do with your internet connection to the server being throttled up by something random. For example, when you open up inventory the client has to freeze your game until client gets necessary information it needs from the server to successfully open inventory. So if something slows down this process, opening inventory can take longer time than normal. Same concept can be applied to game freezing when boss fight starts etc. Random fps loss and mini stutters show those freezes.

You can test this and see for yourself what i mean about all this with this trick. Open inventory, hover your mouse to any random item and then hover back and forth between all your items and see your fps go down to 10 or so depending on how fast you do it. When you stop, it goes back to normal which means its "loading lag freeze" caused by your pc having to wait data from the server before it can show you the item information. Apparently it takes a long time to get that info lol.

So yea, it can be something in your connection or the server is being a douche or maybe both. Game is not well optimized either so there's that too.

I just tested and it is exactly as you describe it. Any way you can think of that might fix it? Did an internet speed check too and all seems good so idk...

There's nothing really that could fix it completely since it's partly a game optimization issue. It's possible that there are lot of people using the same connection route during certain hours and that slows your internet down enough to cause it. New Unreal Engine 4 update for the game, which comes at some point this year based on the hearsay i have heard, should help fix it better and if not, well nothing really can be done at that point then.

My game is stuttering immense in F8 since last patch.
I have re-installed Windows 10 and everything else.
Can't play it anymore. I used to play with max settings.
Now i can't even play with "optimized for combat" settings.
I also use pingzapper.

I have done many benchmarks:
- SSD
- GPU
- CPU
- RAM

System works fine. But BnS is stuttering as hell.

@rainbeaux i have almost the same set up like you i7 6700k, gtx 1080 ti, 16gb ram. i changed my gpu from 1070 to 1080 ti after playing for 1 week with 1080 ti i did not encounter any problem until when my windows 10 updated thats the time i have this low gpu usage and fps drops 10-20 in dungeon and worse in 12man raid around less than 10, i even set my graphics to low settings but i still had massive fps drops and low gpu usage.  For four days i was trying to figure out how to solve this problem i did clean install my gpu drivers even roll back my windows version, tweaking in nvidia control panel but still had the same problem. only yesterday i managed or somehow solved my problem and playing again with max settings, i uninstall the client then fresh download and reinstall. i was trying to install the client in the c: profiles instead of c: profiles (x86) but after finishing the download and installation only to find out the nc launcher was the one installed in the c: profiles and the client again in c:profiles (x86). Before reinstalling the client i did clean reinstall again my gpu drivers but the one i installed was the old one not the new drivers, then followed the guide made by IAmWho in the youtube on how to fix low fps, and the last one i followed was posted by Yun Hwah after loading the game to Open up task manager ----> select "Details" tab ----> Find the "Client.exe" File ----> Right click and set "Priority to High" ----> Next set "Affinity" and choose the cores you would like BnS to run on.  You can play around and find which cores works best for you. For me on a HQ core, I check the 1,3,5,7 CPUs.  hope this can help you, gl.
