Dimensional Volley Explained

This topic aims to break down what this horribly translated skill is, how it works, and what it's good for. So before you start posting "Dimensional Volley Broken?", "WTF IS THIS SKILL!?!", or "Warlocks are trash", let me try and explain things to you.

  1. What is it?
    • Dimensional Volley is a set of skills in the Warlock skill tree, listed under Bombardment.
    • It's mechanics are fundamentally different than Bombardment, and drastically changes the playstyle of the class.
    • Range: 16m
    • Area: Target (single target, no aoe)
    • Cast: Instant (no delay before it's activated)
    • Cooldown: Instant (no cooldown before you can reactivate it)
    • Cost: 3 Focus
  2. How does it work?
    1. T2S4
      • Inflicts [2 x Your Attack Power] shadow damage
        • This is how much damage your Dimensional Volley does
      • Additional hits are available with charges
        • This means, you can recast the skill 1 more time with no Focus cost
      • Inflicts [1 x Your Attack Power] shadow damage Dimensional Charge
        • This is how much damage your Dimensional Charge does
      • Inflicts [4 x Your Attack Power] shadow damage Nomad
        • Nomad = Dimensional Salvo
        • This is how much damage Dimensional Salvo does.
      • Dimensional Charge is available after using Dimensional Volley
        • After using Dimensional Volley, Dimensional Charge becomes available.
      • After using Dimensional Charge, Dimensional Salvo is available for 1 sec
        • 1 second after using Dimensional Volley, Dimensional Salvo becomes available.
      • Dimensional Salvo hit, Wingstorm Cooldown decreased by 2 sec
        • When Dimensional Salvo is successful, Wingstorm's cooldown will be decreased by 2 seconds.
    2. T3S4
      • Pierces Parry
        • Ignores enemy Parry skills
      • Inflicts [1 x Your Attack Power] additional shadow damage on grappled, grabbed, or phantom gripped enemy
        • If an enemy is being grappled (Kung Fu Master), grabbed (Destroyer), or phantom gripped (Force Master, Blade Dancer), Dimensional Volley deals additional damage.
        • This does NOT affect the damage dealt by Dimensional Charge or Salvo
      • Recovers 1 Focus target location
        • If the enemy is debuffed by "Target", Dimensional Volley generates 1 Focus on hit
      • When Dimensional Charge or Dimensional Salvo hit during Siphon, creates 1 additional Spectral Orb
        • If you are buffed by Siphon (Leech), Dimensional Charge/Salvo generates 1 Spectral Orb on hit
      • When Dimensional Charge or Dimensional Salvo hit during Siphon, Dragoncall cooldown decreased by 1 sec
        • If you are buffed by Siphon (Leech), Dimensional Charge/Salvo decreases Dragoncall cooldown by 1 sec on hit
      • When Dimensional Charge hit during Siphon, Wingstorm cooldown decreased by 2 sec
        • If you are buffed by Siphon (Leech), Dimensional Charge decreases Wingstorm cooldown by 2 sec on hit
    3. T5S4
      • On Dimensional Salvo hit, creates 1 additional Spectral Orb and decreases Wingstorm cooldown by 2 sec
        • Dimensional Salvo generates 1 Spectral Orb and decreases Wingstorm cooldown by 2 sec on hit
      • On Dimensional Salvo critical hit, creates 1 additional Spectral Orb
        • Dimensional Salvo generates 1 Spectral Orb when it lands as a critical hit
  3. What's it good for?
    1. Dimesional Volley (and Charge/Salvo) deals shadow damage. Shadow elemental equips will increase your overall damage output fairly well.
    2. Dimensional Salvo [T5S4] can generate 3 Spectral Orbs when attacking an enemy debuffed by "Target", while you are buffed by "Siphon", and it lands as a critical hit
    3. Rupture becomes available off Dimensional Salvo hit
    4. Using Rupture [T1S1 and above] in conjunction with Dimensional Salvo will allow you to spam Dragon Helix very rapidly without the need of any of your long cooldown skills
    5. Dimensional Volley is a spammable skill that allows you to refresh the cooldown on Dragoncall and Wingstorm. This allows for some unique builds and combos that rely on Dragoncall and Rupture as primary damage skills.

In what circumstance would you use Bombardment / Dimensional Volley Form 4?

I usually use Form 3 in open PvE as together with Wingstorm Form 1 Tier 3, Dragoncall / Dragon Helix Form 3 Tier 3 and Mantra Form 1 Tier 3 allows me to spam it for AoE and self-heal, and I use Form 2 against bosses in dungeons for massive damage.

So far I use Form 1 in PvP, but I'm still fairly new to Warlock PvP.
