Question about Contracting with Merry Potters

So my friend told me as I start the game and when I reach to Jadestone Village, he told me to get these professions/have a contract with them; Green Thumbs, Merry Potters, The Tree Fellers and Soul Wardens. As I contracted all three but the Merry Potters, how am I able to have a contract with them? The Merry Potter NPCs does not give me anything to have a contract with. I asked my friend the solution but he only told me, "You're bugged." and that's all he says. Asking the forums instead, how do I have a contract with them?

Press L, then leave the other ones. Then try join merry potters first and then the others.
You can be a member of max 2 gathering guilds and 2 crafting guilds. If you have any points in any of those guilds, you will lose them when you leave.

I have left the three guilds but the Merry Potter NPCS still won't let me have a contract with them :(

You're talking to the wrong npc then.
