If you press M in game you gonna see little rocks on the map if they have a light over that rocks that means there is quartz on it.Press  F when you are close to it and you should be able to mine it assuming you have the  pick for it oh and viridian means it's found in that zone if you try to mine quartz in cinderlands for example you gonna need a different pick and quartz won't be the same.
