Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller driver v9.0.0.35 and launcher problems

Up until the last patch, I have been able to log in and play B&S just fine from Japan with no VPN, but after the last patch, a VPN is now required to both log in and stay connected to the game.  I get an E02009 error from the launcher without using a VPN. I just opened a ticket about this as well.

 

EDIT: OK, it looks like the launcher wasn't playing nice with my Ethernet driver. Rolling back the Ethernet driver fixed the problem.

 

Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller 8.1.0.31 from 9/22/2015 works fine, but the newest version 9.0.0.35 from 1/13/2016 causes the game to require a VPN to log in and stay connected. I don't know if this is a problem with the driver or the launcher.
