Weapons in Arena

So, I love this game and the arena system so far, and to be honest, as many times as I've been defeated by broken classes, I find that I still do well enough to continue to climb, especially since Sin has a high skillcap which is actually tough to meet, unlike Des, Summ abd BD. 

 

Now, my main question is simple. We have the weapons we go in with, however, what I want to know is whether or not everything scales, or if the weapon you go in with is the damage you go in with as well. I've seen Destroyers crit 10+k damage whereas I'm lucky to get off a 6k crit, so does ones soul shield , weapon and accessories actually affect this, or are they scaled as I originally said?
