Crimson Plains faction explanation please?

I know I'm slow to pick up on things, but this area totally baffles me. Is there a guide somewhere?

ps. Every time I visit I see Cerulean outnumber Crimson by at least 5 to 1, often greater. Given that the /faction channel is overrun by gold bots, is there any easy way to coordinate? (Yeah, I'm Crimson)
