Over leveling your hongmoon weapon

Hi, I am grinding my second character, and I was wondering if I could break through my weapon past my current level. I am currently lvl 31 and I have access to the Tomb of Exiles through the dungeon lobby. However, if i breakthrough the item, it says that the awakened inferno requires level 36. Will I be able to equip it if i breakthrough? Or will i have to buy another hongmoon weapon to grind until level 36?

you won´t be able to upgrade till you reach the appropriate level. No need to worry.
