Weapon unable to upgrade

So my Hongmoon Sword has become Awakened Hongmoon Sword Stage 10. The next stage requires a Viridian transformation stone and a Blight Sword, which I both have, unsealed and everything. Now, I click Evolve, but it said that I can't do it and unequips the Hongmoon Sword instead. What is going on? Is this supposed to happen?  What should I do?

you can't evolve items while they're equipped - whenever you try, the game will automatically unequip them. just evolve straight from your inventory, and it should work!
