Changing Faction Doubts

So I am Crimson and I've already finished my Soul Shield but I prefer the Cerulean Weapon skin.

Given that BnS is a good looking based game (kappa) I want to change to Cerulean.

If I change do I keep my Soul Shield?

Are there differences in the Soul Shield depending on the side?

Besides these, what are the ups and downs of it?

Same soul shield. You'll lose your Crimson rank (if you re-join Crimson, you start from Initiate again). The insignias farmed as a Crimson can't be used as a Cerulean.
