How to cc players

Yeah, the answer to that should be pretty obvious....but

I got more "knowledgable" at pvp lately and I now know the sort of escapes classes have (typically on 2). Thing are going great, I now see how to bait out one of such escapes before unloading all my stuff. Low elo strats are working fabulously but against players above gold (I'm not there yet but I spar) I notice that CC stops working on players and I don't know why that is. Ex. I definitely see KFM blow his spinning kick thing, meaning it's gone for 36 seconds, as I attempt to grasping root them (summoner things), they kinda keep moving...

 

It's not even just KFMs, i sparred with some BD, FM, Des (lets not talk bout Des...), more KMS etc. Des seems to not be affected by anything but knock downs, ironically I can't knock down a FM for the life of me

I know I can't expect the same thing that fooled golds to fool platinums and above...but I don't got much else lol
