Problem with the game launcher

when I open the launcher and download the files normally as soon as I get a hiccup in my internet this happens

the speed number just keeps decreasing and the estimated time just keeps increasing, this happens on both the repair files and the actual download, and if I close the launcher I am unable to open it again unless I restart my computer, is there any solution at all to this?
