newbie gathering question

I joined the Trapper Alliance in Jadestone Village and I think I'm supposed to find a sample of whole chicken (although I haven't been assigned any quest).  I've gone to the tree that looks like an upside down Y in the NE corner of the map and there's a skeleton there but it's not lit up and I can't get anything from it with F.

 

What am I doing wrong?  thanks.

nevermind I didn't see the other guy, he gave me the quest.  Thanks anyway.
