unable to change window resolution

so I came back from a long vacation...eager to play. Noticed there was a patch when I was gone so I updated it. Once the game loaded, the game window turned into window mode...

 

So I tried to change the resolution of the game window..but then when I open up the settings...the window is so small that I could not get to the graphics tab and change it to full screen mode...

 

I tried changing the resolution of my actual desktop..it is still not big enough...

 

can anyone help? :(
