Blade & Soul Community

It has been 3 years since I posted anything in here, and to be more exact, it has been 3 years since I last played blade & soul. Last week, due to all this quarentine, I decided to install the game again and play it. The first thing I noticed and got really surprised was that there's only 1 server now for NA.

I say it is a surprise, not really, because in my last post, comment, in this forum, I was talking specifically about things that this game could change in orther to not se its player base shrink. At that moment, of course, many players started to offend me and stuff, as usual, instead of discuss the ideas I was presenting at that time.

I came back and I can tell you guys, I am really having fun with the new event and stuff. It gives me opportunity, not only for returning players, but new players, to catch up with the game.

But there's one thing that doesn't change. The community of Blade & Soul. I don't know why people are so full of hate and selfishness in this game. I wonder when people will learn that you need other players in a MMORPG game in order to have fun, and when you just mistreat someone in the game, you are only closing the doors to have some fun and to have people around to play with. Not everyone will be very experienced or geared, but it can still be fun playing with people. Years ago, when you would join a group for a dungeon or some other event, people would talk and get to know each other and do stuff together. Nowadays, no one talks and they are very inclined to kick someone in whatever reason they find in their mind to push people away.

How do you think this game went for 5-6 servers only in NA to only 1? and how long do you think NCSOFT will keep their servers up if people will keep leaving. Do you think the few hundred whales are able to keep it going?

I've played 4 NCSOFT games because I actually enjoy their games, and I've seen they shutting down so many good games they have.

Most of time players blame NCSOFT for that, they say it is bad management, but you, as part of a community, is also responsible for maintaining the game running. And it is not only about the money you spent in the game, it is about how you treat others around you. I am sure if you didn't like to play and interact with people you'd rather play some 1vs1 or 1vsnpc game in PS4 or Xbox.

The best community I've found in games is in Guild Wars 2. That's not coincidence that they have a big wiki with all info for the games, many apps to help you out to improve in the game, either with crafting, with selling stuff, finding the best build, etc. When you look up for any dungeon, item information, location, etc, you hardly find anything about blade and soul.

Since I came back I've been having a hard time to find a lot of infos online about the game and when I make questions in game, sometimes people are just rude or dont answer at all.

Also lets talk about the fact that many people kick you out from parties because they don't think you are strong enough. I mean, you join a party for a dungeon that requires 1320AP and you have 1450AP, but they wont let you join the party or participate, because they only want people better geared with 1650-1700AP to do a burst run, in 3 minutes, when they could have fun doing the mechanics and take like extra 5 minutes having a good gameplay with some people.

Why can't you wait for a returning player to get to the location of a raid or teach them how to get there in order to everyone have fun, but you will either kick that person from the alliance or kill the boss without them being close by so you can get your rewards in 2 seconds and make that person lose his run and have to wait for a week, after the reset to try again?

I mean, what are you really earning with all this? are you really having fun?

So, despite all NCSOFT effort the keep their servers up and making fun events to everyone keep playing the game, getting their upgrades and being able to play the game and improve their gear and skills, the community itself keeps pushing each other away.

People don't even bother to learn the games mechanics anymore, they just look for someone really strong to get carried by them or pay them for that and even bad mouth people who is trying to improve.

Yesterday, someone criticized me by the fact I was using a soul badge that wasn't exactly for my build, and on top of that, when I said I was returning and haven't played in 3 years, after they kick me from a DST party in a dungeon lobby, because they wanted to burst, and I only have 1450AP (and I have done that dungeon 3 times since I came back, and I know the mechanics), they even told me I should leave the game again, because I was saying it was funny people kicking me just like that.

I am one of thoose players that dosent care about the gear of my teammates if i know we can do it but i completly understand if you get kicked for having less gear than people want you to have.

Its their own group if you cant deliver what they want from you its your fault and its totally ok to kick you and i would even go that far to say it would be wrong not to kick you since people like you expect to do every content out there while not upgrading their stuff. If you feel like you can manage the specific dungeon you wanna enter just open a group yourselfe with your own requirements!

There are more than enough ways to get good gear even without doing dungeons at all but people like you are simply to lazy to do that stuff and instead you complain about how bad the community is even tho most players to my experience are actully helping and will tell you anything you need to know but carrying you through everything is simply wrong.

The reason new players leave is usually due to the lack of knowledge and its not helping if they simply dont ask experieced player and simply expect to get carried through everything just cause NC put some event in that wants you to do certain stuff you simply dont have the gear for yet.

As long as they throw enough money at nc the servers will keep running. The biggest reason there is only one server left is nc's mismanagement and greed, apart from rare exceptions like the current event they treat f2p people like trash and care only about milking the whales. That's why most people leave the game not the community and if you didn't have to play this game like a second job to get anywhere without using your wallet the community probably would be less toxic.

So open your own party with less ap requirement, where is the problem? Only people that want to get carried complain about parties with higher requirements that don't take them.

You apparently have not seen more than the current event, this is a rare exception. Go look at past event/patches they are usually crap, nc only puts in the absolute minimal effort into this game, they mess something up every patch and the communication with the community is almost nonexistent. If you don't cash you are worth nothing to nc they have shown us that plenty of times, you could almost think they want this game to shut down the way they manage it.

That's why people ask for high ap, let me just quote what i wrote in another thread:

"while it's possible to do higher dungeons with low ap parties it can be a huge pain in the ass and easily turn into a trap run. There is a reason people ask for way more ap than needed, if you recruit for 1,7k or below the chance of getting braindead people in your party significantly increases. Your usual F8 player is too dumb to use lucky revitalizer even when told to do so, instant revival charm? why use that when you can chill the whole boss fight as a floormat. Also often players don't do the dmg they should with their gear, how often have i seen et geared players who can barely pull 1mil dmg.."

TL;DR: Need high AP for lack of braincells of most players.

Well if it's a burst party so of course they will kick people if they think the party is not good enough to burst it down.

If you want to create a party that has low ap, low skill, low mech knowledge and have a learning run or what not, Noone, Absolutly noone in the entire game is stopping you from creating your own fun, It is when you try to push your idea of fun onto my gametime that we are going to have a problem. So just find like-minded people who share your beliefs and values.

Just don't try to push those things onto other people who don't like those things.
