Jumping off ship, my final words.

Recommended Posts

I'm not gonna write this post because "I'm quttin' bai XDDD" but I still think before I totally quit, that I should give out my review to maybe help or make people see clearly about this game or not.

Where to begin ? I've been playing this game for 2 years, and don't get me wrong it has been a nice adventure tho I somehow feel like for a game that I used to like, I feel like jumping off too soon somehow, my average time staying in a game/mmo being 3 years, this one has been quick enough sadly..

Ironically, from all the games I've played, I'm still putting Blande and Soul on the silver pedestal, no one can even beat what I've gone through that mmotps called s4 League, this one was really the best game I've ever played online from a Korean developer. (excluding cash shop or otherwise I could say every game is trash eh)

Now, as to why I'm quitting it's very simple : overall, I feel like the game is shoving tons of s- down my throat. There is no "its p2w", neither anything like "grind reeee" nor "gaem 2 herd" because it's definitely not but the stress I've been getting lately is really not healthy and it's time for a stop.

First reason of such stress is the gameplay, that I felt has gone down since the awakening patch. I've said multiple times through other posts that my main class was Shadow Warlock. Now, I have to admit that it got a good boost in dps, however the quality of the gameplay is even worse than when this class was still a meme. Now ping is even more relevant than ever for this class and it's definitely not fun anymore, especially when even average ping cripples out your Helix count so badly when it shouldn't be the case. (my normal ms is ~45, this is insane such things happens..)

I can forget even rerolling to another class, I have fun with Summoner but going through all of what I've gone through back then is just really demotivating at this point, no matter how many reductions we'll get or we've got.

Another point being specialisation... not being very specialised at all. I've had more stuff to specialise back then than from now to be honest. I could chose my cc and when to make a certain skill being an airborne.. now it's just so.. blank, and empty. Deleting a few skills there and there when I had actually fun using such specs for variety and "challenge". (I remember carrying people in NF at Rocnar using airborne WL xd)

Second reason, I'm pretty much done with gearing. It's not about being "p2w" like 70% of the players likes to complain about, but there's just too much at this point to even have fun enjoying what should be around the game : open world and dungeon variety.

I was fine upgrading and felt like I was still on par with people back then because we didn't used to have so many items. Get your Raven weapon, BT accs, get that soul on good stage, bracelet and here, you're good to go.

Now if you want to not feel useless in terms of dps/contribution, you better get everything for sure : heart, gloves, psyches psyches psyches, let alone gilded idfk how many sides gems.. (square was such a stupid boost in reality, it's pretty sad). Telling me talisman is a "pvp item" when you get Mystic and boss AP boost at higher talisman upgrades.. unless I've missed something and we use mystic and boss AP in battlegrounds.. ^^

Definitely feels like a let down. And why is this a problem ? Because the quality of the game doesn't improve in the meantime. The dungeons are a joke, even Brood Chamber which is supposed to be highest tier is a pretty big disappointment. TSM is already nerfed to oblivion, to the point people just solo to farm heptagonal Garnets... ET has been a disappointment for most of endgame players too, let alone finding a TT raid which is pretty much irrelevant as you can just spam MSP 1-6 now to get your whole TT ss + farm gold to get your weapon mat for Grand Celestial.

Another problem : what do I gain by getting all this gear ? It's to join content that is not really challenging after all, so why do I bother farming and waste time on a game I can't have fun anymore ?

People gonna say "but if that's so, why don't you just do lower content then ? xd"

That IS the problem, endgame is already a joke, what do you think happened to the lower content ? It's being inexistant and even more boring to clear because you simply can't fail anymore at this point.

It's also a dps mentality because of the nerfs so no one ends up really playing the game as how it should be played.

I've check the recent KR changes and nothing : gear gear gear, get older gear for free but get another new one on top of it. It's a circle loop. Pretty sad as I was looking forward getting at least True Cosmic next week but, do I even have a reason to be happy about it ? Everything's been reduced, what I was aiming for will stay at the same distance as it used to be anyway. When I'll get awakened tiger 1, the tier of players I'm aiming for are going to get the new max soul most likely. It is simply a loop.

Pet gems.. "ancient legendary".. soul shield psyches (really ?).. and so on, even more to add in even less time than before. Right, they'll get another new raid soon, according to that new storyline that has been released with Archer.

Was looking for Archer as well but I heard the burst is even more ridiculous than Gunslinger, just imagine now. (like Warden wasn't stupid enough)

Extra reasons for quitting : - community is not really enjoyable anymore.

- at this point, it's a dungeon crawler.

- activities aren't charming at all. Fishing seems like a really big bother promoting pretty much nothing.

So, to end this, Blade and Soul isn't a bad game at all but it doesn't go toward a direction that feels comfortable for me AT ALL. These are the reasons why I will simply end up quitting, and actually I felt pretty disgusted and burned out from the game that I'm not gonna bother to even finish current event, sadly.

What am I gonna play now ? None of anyone's concern, besides I'd rather not talk about other games in NC West's forums as it's not the same company. I'll just give a hint and say that I ended up taking the same boat as Liinxy. (on a much lower class that is the player class of course hehe, I'm no CM/GM)

Hopefully everyone still have fun and enjoy the game, storyline isn't bad and the art of this game is still pretty damn good but I have no choice now than passing the rest. Cheers o/

I can honestly understand what you mean, whenever you get the felling you upgraded and can relax cause you caught up, a new item comes and the same story starts all over again.

they are making too many upgrade items too easily obtainable, especially raid items, there is nothing rewarding in having gear now, no feel of accomplishment.

Not sure if you read the new KR patch descriptions? I think those changes will make the game much more enjoyable when it hits our versions. especially the skill damage split into PVE , PVP and Stndardized (arena), will make balancing in each of those much easier. And the new dungeon modes: beginner, normal, hard will make a lot more players actually try them i hope.

Overall, you have to keep in mind that this game does not have anything major to offer in terms of a end-game. Its just running dungeons over and opver for materials and thats it, there is no variety.

Hard modes are a thing. A thing that most players avoid like the plague and this shouldn't be the case. There are a lot of things to fail there and good rewards to obtain. Obviously talking about HH, RT, ST, DST, TSM and BC hard modes, although most of those are not hard at all, especially after the hard modes nerfs that happened but shouldn't have.

Raids as well are about "sellraids" or people that don't want to learn anything so there's literally no interest of doing them. Besides MSP gives you everything VT/TT can give you, aside from the accessories so why bother when you can get the best increase from TT via. completing MSP which is literally VT-tier in terms of boss hp.

However, VT neck is actually pretty meh if Elevation is maxed/awakened. TT accs aren't that much of a dps increase either, it's an increase but I don't think, after all the TT nerfs etc, is worth being sold for 1.5k+ gold.

I don't pvp on Blade and Soul so I skipped the damage part when I read their last patch. And the dungeon modes doesn't really change anything : TSM will still be a joke, same for DST, BC.. maybe the only hope would be Warped Citadel at this point and still.. probably going to get nerfed at some point too ^^ Beginner mode comes in far too late, normal mode shouldn't have been butchered to begin with.

I mean, people struggle in normal mode already so... s:

And with the dps mentality, it's not enjoyable either and it's the same as normal mode : cleared with over the top gear because players doesn't feel like they actually enjoy the game for what it really is.

I came to same conclusion a month back.   I played this game from the beginning and had max geared warlock but i just got enough. Warlock became a lag fest after this awakened and i honestly dont enjoy it anymore. It was lagfest before but now its just worse.

What made me quit this game was the boredom. I started feeling like it was work. Raids multiple days per week for multiple hours, dailies everyday to get your gold and rinse and repeat. I wasnt fully F2P person but i wasnt a whale eather i spend some money here and there. I just think this game is becoming more spend to keep up or play hours and hours per day to keep up which is fine if that is what people enjoy.

My biggest annoyance with this game is the population. I think this was the most toxic playing environment i've personally ever seen. Given i dont play shooting games and such which probably are worse. Being max geared i didnt have problems getting into anything in F8 but i can see how annoying it can be for a low geared person. Now someone can say but lower geared people have no reason in being in there...but honestly NM dungeons are so easy nowdays you dont need 1.6k AP to finish them people are just lazy and want stuff done fast rather than carry 1-2 lower geared people who would probably get more out of the dungeon that the max gear will and need the gold more than the max gear will. HM dungeons in F8...its not good and getting clan with members who are willing to teach you and take you to places is ever harder. People in this game are selfish not all but most of them clans are places to hang out and get clan buffs. People who do Hm dungeons in clans mostly run with same people hardly ever taking anyone else with them that's what i noticed.

I'm not saying this game is bad it has many good points but if you ever want to try it and keep up with gear prepare to spend many hours or open that wallet. After hitting certain gear gap the game becomes very boring. You do same thing over and over and over again.

Class balance is ...bad with this brilliant plan of ncsofts to release 3rd spec one class at the time makes it horrible + some classes will probably have to wait for year (s) with this speed they are going , and lets be fair some classes are just stupidly made...looking at you wardens.

Game is pretty even if its old, just wish it was better optimized i might have continued little longer if that was the case but the fps drops and warlock being so laggy now just completely killed it for me. I love the battle system im going to miss it.

I started about 2 years ago too, my experience was a bit different though. I didn't really struggle to keep up per se, I could if I focused on one character. But, that's not what I enjoy doing in the game. I enjoy having fun playing and mastering multiple classes. I liked outperforming people with significantly less gear, especially on my alts. But, it doesn't work out well anymore. I took them all to Aransu 3 eventually because I got tired of getting kicked even though I could run everything, even BC with Raven 6 and have competent dps. Then I learned, even with Aransu 3, I'd still get kicked from most groups simply because my HM levels were too low to bother gear checking.

Anyway, on my alts, which I spend a great deal of time playing, I didn't rush upgrading their weapons. I focused on accessories like getting True Hongmoon Heart and the Hellion Bracelet, so I could focus on my main more. With what I had, my damage was on par with that of the average person I ran into with Aransu 9 on every single on of my alts by the time just using Raven 6 > Aransu 3 depending on the class/spec. Now though, with MSP 1-6 becoming such a huge deal, it went from my favorite thing(the 1st 2 weeks of double loot weekends) to just demoralizing for me. When I was able to easily make my own groups or sometimes slip into A6 or A9+ groups, there were very few  where I couldn't make the meters. Every single one of my alts out dps half of people with Aransu 9. But, now that many people know how lucrative MSP is, it is dishearteningly hard to find groups anymore. People want nothing more than Aransu 9, how well you play and accessories are irrelevant.

I used to disdain people I saw with high stage weapons and neglected accessories, and always paid attention to all gear, not just the weapon, and even if someone used HM Focus or just all Offense. But now I'm seeing with the way the community is, even though you can actually play better with gearing up smartly, no one will accept you, you're better off rushing Aransu 9 as fast as possible and using whatever you can for a high AP just to be able to get into groups. Unless of course you have enough friends and/or a good enough clan.
It sucks, but I still look at gear and have plenty of screenshots of people in my groups, for example 2 wardens. One Warden had Aransu 9, and trash accessories, the other one had Aransu 3, and good accessories(not TT). The Aransu 9 had 437k dps, the Aransu 3 had 1.09m dps, but guess what? The Aransu 3 is not getting into any MSP 1-6 groups, but that Aransu 9 one would have an easy time getting in.
It's not a big deal to some, obviously just look at the community. But for someone like me who plays a lot of alts, and actually plays efficiently, I would have to sacrifice a lot to get them all to Aransu 9 and neglect things that would matter much more. And soon that requirement is gonna be higher.

I am not quitting but i do agree with you. It would be much better if they simply put a hold on gear progression and new gear in general and focused more on variety with the current content, cause its really repetitive and you get simply burned out really fast. New raids and gear wont change that, it simply adds to it more and more.

I agree on the 3rd spec's, they should simply hold off on them and release them all at once, since now it will cause an even bigger imbalance than it already is. I honestly do not see any balance improvements untill they split up[ the damage into 3 categories like they announced and once UE4 comes.

right now i mainly just login, do dailies, my clan raids and i am off playing something else xD

IMO  the game would have been better if it was subscription based.  The game would have been more fun, because items in game wouldnt be an issue because they would have been easier to get. Let's take WOW for example,  (back when it was great)  it was subscription based but you could easily get geared to decent end game raiding levels because items weren't  a pain to grab. I would do some dailies and spend the rest of the day having fun doing other things.

In BNS however; Nowadays you need up to 5 -10 toons just to try and catch up and it can take months where in wow (a subscription based game) you could have geared up in a matter of weeks at your own pace.  When I first began playing bns several years ago, this wasnt an issue though. the grind was less and I had fun doing other things in game.  The endless grind just feels like a carrot on a stick.  Almost reached that end game soul? Too bad, here is another tier of soul to upgrade and it will take you a years or two to get it.  Personally as a gamer it has left me rather burnt out and questioning whether or not to continue playing.

I did invest in trove next week but aside from trove, I may take a minor break after the current event.

You are correct, there is just too much to upgrade at this point and instead of the game being fun, its becoming a stressful repetitive grind. Another weapon upgrade just kills it for me to be honest and im at aransu 9 and been stuck at A9 for awhile now.

But now soon there will be yet ANOTHER tier above GC. Its so frustrating because no matter what I do, I can't catch up. And I have 7 toons!

I think NC needed to pause atleast 1 year more before throwing the next content so people could catch up without p2w.  But sadly this is what happens with non subscription based games.

I dont know what else to say, but this is simply how I feel. I am sure many others feel the same way.

I can totally relate to most of what you have written in this thread.

I also feel like I cannot catch up to how fast this game is introducing the upgrades.

I work (PLAY) SOOOOOOOOOO HARD every single day, all my weekends are basically for BnS (whole day of Saturday and Sunday, yes).

I didn't go out at all because I have to finish all the raids on many chars.

You can say that it is my choice because I want to do many chars, and yes that is correct, but I do that so that I can get many many materials and gold so that I can quickly upgrade my main.

But what do I get?

I started playing exactly 1 year ago and so far I work soooooooooooooo harddddddddddddddddd but I still cannot catch up (I swear), my soul is still True Cosmic ++ (have a few oils stand by), not yet True Tiger.

Other equipments are TT accs+Prophecy necklace and yes I dont have that expensive highest tier of Talisman and Heart.

Weapon? I am stuck that I cannot get GC yet because my raid is still progressing on boss 4!

We do raids everyweek but you know one or two people taking turns to miss raid every week, and let alone to find another raid THAT CAN MATCH YOUR TIMING is NOT EASY I swear.

and now  they introduce new raid, new weapon, new soul, new dungeon to do (great), and new specialization etc.

I feel like there are soooo many updates within a short time whilst the nature of this game is about doing dungeon and raids, whereby you cannot solo them and you need other people to progress together with you.

And as you said, the future ahead is still same pattern, new upgrades, new accessories coming, new raid already coming soon to Korea, and well how to catch up?

it is so tiring that I also want to give up! :P

I will quit the game one day too, but I wish I could quit when I'm at the latest content (raid), so I am still hanging on now.

What I can say? Congratulation! You finally find the resolve to quit this game with its gear-grinding treadmill and ever-growing P2W aspect. I'm sure you will be happier with your life that way.

And no, this is not a sarcasm. There is no /s or /kappa.
