Should I use my weak pvp story gear for battleground to farm moonstone? 

Or, does anyone know where I can farm moonstone without buying from market/trove/f10

If you mean moonstone crystals, then you can farm it from Naksun in the Mushin Tower. If moonstones, then in SSP, I guess?

Not moonstone crystal, I have no problem farming those.

PvP or F5, otherwise make a ton of alts and do the daily challenge everyday and save up slowly over time. If you don't like to play alts, then tough luck there's no other source.
Almost forgot, you can try the Trial Arena in Mushin's Tower. It's not much and once per character for each season.

Since battleground is gear dependent and the queue for it is not based on gear but on the rank you can go naked and hope to be carried because of NCsoft allows it, i wasted my mats on pvp gear to end up carrying others so the hell with it go however you want but just don't stay AFK because that is punishable
