Bosses get reset and restores HP to full when Gunner is airbourn while using Skystone.

This is especially true when soloing.

 

In fact, this glitch has always been there... even since pre-awakening.

Unfortunately this is intentionall. Boss can't target you when you are airborne and because he has no other target he will reset.
