I know. This game heavily depends on RNG loot boxes. Actually I have nothing against system. Developers of game needs to earn money somehow.
But, I recently noticed that Belgium banned RNG boxes and asks them to be removed from game. They treat it as gambling. Can't agree to that. You always get something from box. Still, it won't change their mind. What I'm worrying about is more countries following this trend. What happens if EU publishes law which bans gambling and loot boxes. What if after that US follows it. NC Soft would lose tons of money. That would possibly lead to game being closed. Sure this game full of bugs and can be frustrating sometimes. Some of us are ranting that game is dying. Or that game become bad. Still, many, I'd say most of us wishes for this game to live. We don't want it to die. So what to do. How to prevent loot boxes from being treated as gambling? Add % values to drop rates? Nope. Still bad idea. It's still gambling. Rewards aren't guaranteed. Only solution would be make rewards guaranteed. Sure, you can say: "it's nonsense. Everyone and everyone's granny will be able to get gilded gems easily. Actually..they wouldn't. You see, the idea I'm suggesting is simple. % chance= amount boxes to open. In example if something has 5% drop rate in new system you'd need to buy 20 boxes to get it. Basically each box would have same guaranteed low tier rewards like materials and stuff. But, you'd get lets say 2x transformation stones upon opening 5 boxes, at 10 boxes outfit, at 25 premium stone, at 200 gilded gem and so on. Basically similar to trove system which allows you to choose extra reward at some milestone. Extra reward could come as extra chest which when opened lets allow you to choose one of few rewards. NC Soft would still earn money. Lots of them. People would exactly know how much of boxes they need to open to get thing they like.
Oh and few more things:
Jackpots would remain the same since they are free. Its not a gambling if you pay nothing.
all RNG chest could be bought only with NC Coin
there would be no RNG chests for hongmoon coins.

Some people buy 200 boxes and don't get what they want.  And this is why nc won't change it.  Those people are not buying 20 boxes, they are buying 200.

And that's gambling. If EU decides to follow Belgium and ban gambling. what do you think will happen to their income? I mean..Belgium already banned RNG boxes and they rea removed from game. Still its not big deal for NC Soft. Its just one country. But what if whole EU will follow it? What if US joins after that too?

Thats not gambling thats people being stupid. You cannot buy a rng box with the expectation of getting what you WANT, because thats not the purpose of it. they shouldnt have to ban the boxes but enforce better control on parents for their kids that play the game. Adults are more than capable to take a decision to buy or not buy.

also belgiums decision was submitted to the European Parlament of EU, as it violates certain rights.

Do not worry too much about it.

It will take a long time for something like this to be adopted across the EU. all countries have very different laws and they are not required to adopt the same laws.

France was one of the first to show up against this. Ubisoft has a lot of power and makes lots of Money. So yea France will do everything to not adopt these laws.

The thing about gambling is because it is addictive. addiction is a disease. What are you saying?

you are right.

The purpose of it is get ppl addicted so ppl spend more $$

I agree that parents these days do not want responsibilities and are often the only ones to blame.

But in this case first you have to regulate all this. When gaming companies have the same rules/laws as a casino or online betting sites Then you can blame the parents.

Not because the game would be making a loss though. RNG boxes exist because of greed, not because of neccessity.

Oh boy. I mostly agree with your posts, but this one right here makes you look like a complete ignorant.

RNG Boxes and Trove are gambling. Simple as that.

It's also not just because of the kids that buy those boxes or trove.

Gambling is addictive, not just for kids - for everyone. It always depends on the mental state - some people just have a personality that are easily addicted, no matter if kid or adult. Alcohol, drugs... you name it, same ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤. They give you a short "high" (like gambling) and you keep coming back to it.

Also, just because it was apparently submitted to the EU Parlament because it "violates certain rights" doesn't mean it's a wrong course.

Quality of games have declined over the last decade(s) and they get more freakin money through these microtransactions than ever. This is the wrong course for the industry.

For games like wow it would be pure greed. Simply because they earn money via monthly fee plus expansions. Everyone who plays game pays that. That's guaranteed income. Games like blade and soul..you can play them without spending a cent. without buying anything from store with NC coins. buying only with hongmoon coins. NC soft from such people earns absolute zero $. But game needs to survive. Needs for new content come out. Money are needed. Not everyone buys subscription, not everyone buy outfits from store too. even if they do its one time purchase, very few buy same outfit more than once. RNG boxes..they are despicable thing, but thanks to them game is still alive. How do you think whales who spend up tons of $$$ end up being with almost endgame gear in like 3 days with new class. answer is simple: RNG boxes. They spend thousands upon thousands of $$$ to buy tons of boxes.
We casual players are nothing..our 20-50$/month has very little impact on game. But whales and their thousands of $$$ is what keeps this game funded. Without RNG boxes there would be no whales, game couldn't survive on mere 50000-100000$/month income..if not less. And even if we did we wouldn't get any game updates, no new content. Just stuck in time with no progression where everyone has maxed gear and community is even more toxic, than it is now. Sure there are some greed in those. But don't forget that free to play must survive somehow..they must get money from somewhere

This is stupid. Comparing buying RNG boxes in games to alcohol and drugs which are actual substances that alter how your brain works.

This is a wrong course. You cannot and should not regulate stupidity away. If some people decide, by their own free will, to waste all their money on RNG pixels in some game, then they should be free to do it. They should be free to suffer the consequences as well.

Also, what about the people who are actually responsible and don't waste all their money on RNG stuff? You are not letting them buy these things, just because some other person may be irresponsible. This is honestly like banning fast-food because some people cannot control themselves and become morbidly obese. Would you really like to live in the kind of world where your freedoms are denied because some irresponsible people can bring harm upon themselves if they weren't denied these freedoms?

The one thing I do agree with from your post is that the quality of games has indeed been declining, partly because of greedy companies. However, the solution to this MUST NOT imply restricting people's choices. For instance, I would not be opposed to higher taxes on RNG boxes or some other ways of them being discouraged, so game developers still have the incentive to find better ways of making a profit while players don't have a choice taken away from them by a third party such as the government.

Addiction in any form is a disease.

You can get "high" (dopamin rush) from gambling (many drugs work in the same way) - of course it differs from person to person.

Also, I never said it should be banned - gambling in generell IS NOT BANNED, there are Casinos/betting sites all over the world, but it's regulated.

If NC doesn't want to implement these rules.. then yea, no RNG boxes for you, rightfully.

When people act like rng boxes aren't gambling :giggle:
And in fact, online gambling IS banned in many places, cause it's hard to check them... unlike normal casino's who have to follow very strict rules on payout rates..

Thats simply because these companys dont want to make their code "public".

In case of NCSoft and Belgium, they could have done the same as Valve did in CSGO/Dota2, but were too lazy/maybe not worth it.

OFC ITS GAMBLING ???

Look up the damn definition dude. How can you be this blind to this stuff, seriously ?

Gambling : take risky action in the hope of a desired result.

Thats 100% undeniably gambling.

Yes people are being stupid, that doesnt justify NC for abusing this stupidity. Gambling is a real threat and abusing it should have consequences.

nobody exactly.

who cares? everyone. Everyone who's smart enough to realize that most income are made exactly via trove and RNG boxes. That without those things game would earn very little money..maybe would be forced to shutdown.

you realize that this is happening already right? Slowly losing players as we speak... yep.
BnS is a very good mmo with big potential it just needs less of that Trove Gear or Kick or 6v6 1hit simulator, no infact remove that it's not needed in the game. When the BT Raid arrived the population already decreased by a lot due to being not Rewarding whenever you spend hours and hours of wipes and get nothing for it but disappointment rage and enemies. Not even going even futher back to the first ever trove released when SFM content released first that's where Players started to leave, why? Day 1 Someone 200 keys trove ez ez ez Stage 10 Breeze and Accessories. Already people saw like how would that be fair to others that grind their way there? No, ok they leave the game then. I can go on to mention where the players decreased and increased. Oh they only increased for about a week or month and then go back down or even lower due to rework of skills, new classes, events or system changes that some people find it very unfair and Fair?
*cough* *cough* ToI Venture Tokens removal. *cough* *cough*
