Question about 8 gems slots

For example so far I have 6 gems slots, if I upgrade my weapon would that give the 7th gem slot by chance?

I got a 7th slot unlocked via upgrade so its just like normal, chance for it.

If you're still in baleful/seraph or dawnforged/riftwalk stages, you can just switch them between the same stage via void fragments until you get the slots
