If you ever get the chance, and see a high leveled, and well geared BD in a daily dungeon run, you can check their gear to see what they wear and see what type of build they are using.

It'll pretty much show everything, from how much crit they have, what kind of primers they have on their soulshields, and what elemental accessories they are running etc.

Good dps is one thing, but mastering mechanics will get you further, and become a bit more self sufficient.

Also, you can screenshot it with printscreen to study it later.

Soul shield and badges depend on the build you go into. For accessories go with elemental which yield more damage overall in most class if not all. Weapon Aransu/ Raven is best if you can gather the materials. You can also check F11 infinity tower builds for your class they can also help on your research. And of course do as @RanMaster said. Imho wind build is easier for high ping, while lightning relies too much on ani cancel and needs lower ping to do correctly.

Well, currently speaking... I'm pretty sure you're going to be looking at the following:

Lightning:

-Courage Soul Badge (currently going to cost you roughly 280g to buy the 70 purple tokens, but prices will only go up) or Primal Force (if you can't afford the badges and have 120 Solar Energy)

-Pulse Mystic Badge

Wind (forgive me, I know less about this build):

-Alluvion Soul Badge (again, 70 tokens), don't know the Solar Energy equivalent... sorry ^-^'''

-Skyrift Mystic Badge

As for the rest...

1) You get MSP 1-8 from doing the story, so stick with that until you can do raids and begin getting your Skybreak Spire set (also commonly known as BT). With your MSP set, however, you should attempt to invest in critical primers to boost the crit on the entire set. The more crit you have, the higher the critical rate you have and the more critical hits you'll do, so it's exceptionally important to most classes (aside from KFM arguably) to have as much crit as possible (a crit rate of 50% is solid nowadays). Additionally, if you obtain any additional MSP shields, you can fuse them to your current shields to boost the other stats on the shield, which isn't bad at all. When you DO get your BT set, you'll want to do the same to it. You MIGHT also want to keep the MSP set on reserve... just in case. Some classes might benefit from MSP 1-8 over BT 1-8 (rumour has it, Summoners will benefit from MSP 1-8 over BT 1-8 very soon)

2) There are some legendary accessories you can obtain before going into raid. The ones you want to focus on are from Desolate Tomb, Naryu Foundry and Naryu Sanctum. All of these can drop from these dungeons on rare occasions (the chest will have an orange pillar of light from it if it has a legendary item in it), but you can buy these legendaries with a reward item that comes from these dungeons, Draken Cores. You need 200 cores to buy any of the legendary accessories from the Achievement Vendor in Zaiwei... but you also need to have unlocked the achievement of beating the respective dungeon 10 times first. DT will be the easiest to get, followed by Foundry and finally Sanctum, mainly due to the difficulties and AP requirements of those dungeons. If you know people who'll help you go through the dungeons, no biggie. The accessories you'll be getting from these dungeons are:

-Necklace (DT)

-Belt (Foundary)

-Bracelet (Sanctum)... you specifically want the DRAGON bracelet... Tiger is obtainable too... but Dragon is the one you want.

Additionally, Ebondrake Citadel can get you a legendary Ring... but unless you want to PvP, don't waste the gold or cores on it. If you plan on doing raids, BT will drop better rings and earrings for PvE (specifically ones for your element...)

3) As for your weapon... I assume you already have your Seraph/Baleful weapon by now... so I won't go over which is the "better" option... not that it matters too much. First and foremost, get your weapon to st 12. From there, your options (if you're engaging in PvE), is Dawnforged or Raven. Ultimately, the trade-off is cost versus damage. Raven is ultimately stronger (and near the end, you'll be going to Raven eventually), but it costs less to go Dawnforged. If you are in a reliable raiding group, however, I almost recommend Raven still, mainly due to convenience. Dawnforged still requires weapons you need to obtain to evolve, while Raven weapons need Raven Souls, which can be obtained doing BT raids that get at least to the 3rd boss. So, you're more likely to get souls than the needed weapons by farming places like Irontech Forge. If you're not in a reliable raiding group, however, you might want to go Dawnforged. In order to get to Raven, you need a specific item that just recently pushed back to clearing the Raven King himself... so prices for it are going up. If you can afford the price in market, however, eh... why not?

The last thing I'll cover for now is the little bits of things you can do for yourself here and there...

1) There are some accessories you can get somewhat easily that will help your overall DPS. First and foremost, if you're doing Desolate Tomb, Ebondrake Citadel and Naryu Sanctum, you'll occasionally see some purple accessories drop. They're not going to be as good as the legendaries you'll eventually get, but they will do nicely. Specifically, from DT and Sanctum, these accessories will have elemental damage boosts. So, when the loot auction at the end of the dungeon comes up, hover your mouse over the item. If it's for the element you're using, try to get it... though don't go overboard. No more than a gold or two. These accessories will help. Ebondrake Citadel also has a purple earring... but it doesn't come with the elemental boost. Again, go ahead and bid a little on it if you don't have the earring from Sanctum, but don't wast more than 1g on it.

2) Since you completed the story, you probably have the Solak accessories. That's nice and all... but go back to Valendria and go look around in the shops. One vendor sells Hollow accessories for about 5 Naryu Silver each. At the very least, buy the gloves. The Hollow set is better than the Solak set and you're not going to be getting any better gloves until you're considerably stronger... and even if you do, it's a pain to get.

3) Gems! If you don't have hexagonal gems, the easiest way to get them (albeit it will be time-consuming) is to farm up 120 Solar Energy (from doing your Daily Challenge). You can trade in 120 energies for 1 Hongmoon Hexagonal Amber... which for the most part... is the crappiest gem colour in the game right now. HOWEVER, you can break that gem down into 4 Hongmoon Gem Powders... and trading in 4 powders to the Dragon Trade Union can get you ANY colour Hex gem! So, buy an amber, break it down, get a good gem. Obviously, you'll want a Diamond first. For the most part, Ruby, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Sapphire and Peridot are decent options, while Citrine is meh... and the rest aren't too good (don't know much about Emerald at the moment). However, one gem is very useful... and the 6th slot of your weapon (I hope you have all your slots unlocked) should be saved for it... obsidian. Obsidian gems boost elemental damage, so you'll need to pick the one for your element. Sadly, the only reliable obsidian you can get right now is a "special square", which is untradeable, but it only costs 15 solar energy, so that's nice. Either way, if you don't have a way to get a better obsidian gem, obtain that one and slot it in with a combination of the other gems I mentioned above (Diamond, Ruby, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Sapphire or Peridot).

Anyways, that massive wall of text should be all you need to know in order to get you prepared to raid. Other than learning your character and how to play them effectively, of course.
