Question about weapon upgrading

Ive return a few weeks ago (after the upgrade change) and im a bit confused.

 

Ive got a stage 3 seraph atm, but i saw there are 2 paths (so far i did it 1 without weapon, 1 with weapon). Can someone explain to me WHY would i use the heroic weapon upgrade path? It costs more mats AND i have to farm for a weapon. I see that i get some extra stats, however, do those stats stack up with every weapon upgrade you make or do you lose the previous stats upon upgrading? Also, are those stats even worth the cost?

The void fragment path only just came out within the past few months. Void fragments are technically a high level dungeon drop but as of right now, there is no reason to upgrade with heroic weapons as you can get void fragments from the daily dash. However this daily dash is set to end on Dec 20th, and I assume the next thing might be treasure trove, so you won't be able to get anymore easy fragments.

 

Also, you do not get extra stats by using heroic weapon. Not sure where you're seeing that.

Hmmm i couldve sworn i saw a small stat when upgrading with weapon, i might be wrong tho.
