Framerate drops to ~20FPS until I alt+tab

Having an issue where I have to alt+tab a lot in this game just to normalize my framerate.

PhysX is set to my Vid Card before anyone asks I have gone through all the nvidia control panel stuff.

PC:

GTX 1070

AMD Ryzen 7 1700x

16 GB RAM

Monitor: Asus ROG swift PG278QR (wondering if this might be the culprit in some way) 144hz 2560x1440

I will run anywhere from 40-120 FPS depending on where I am but regardless of where I am it locks up and drops my framerate to ~20 FPS until I hit alt+tab.

I just came back to playing this game after a year hiatus so I just want to fix any problems I have for more seemless gameplay.

The more noticeable areas that cause this to happen 100% of the time are on the character select screen which happens about 10-15s after I alt+tab and the duel arenas transitioning from the waiting platform to the duel platform(after the countdown for match start). Otherwise it can happen at random while running around any zone.

I do understand this game is still buggy and not as well optimized as it could be but If this is fixable I would atleast like to know I have been searching for an answer for just over a week.

Nvidia 1080Ti Aorus

16gb / SSD / I7 4.2Ghz

I have the same problem. Started about 2 weeks ago... but since I don't play as much as before didn't care about it until now.

I used to run at 80-120 fps all time, but lately, while either loading screen or just passing though new area that needs to be loaded ( TOI floors for example) my fps drops at 16-20 and stays there.

I repeat this happens randomly and not all the time, so I have to press windows key to tab out, they windows again to get back in game and fps is back ( I use Win10).

No idea what they did or if they did something to the game while trying to fix other bugs, but this is really frustrating....

Other areas I got the same issue in the arena platform right before you need to enter and fight, while going in lobby...and list can continue.

If someone else is experiencing the same issues, or if you found a solution, please post here.

If you are running Windows 10, Turn off "Game DVR" Windows 10 has Enabled by Default. Alt + Tab is only a temporary fix.

You’ll need a Microsoft account to disable it the normal way, which goes like this:

Open Xbox app, you can access it via the start menu search.

Sign in - this should be automatic if you normal sign into Windows.

The cog in the bottom left access the settings menu.

Head to GameDVR at the top and turn it off.

or if you don't have Microsoft Account for whatever reason:

Open Registry Editor (Run > regedit)

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore

Set the value of DWORD "GameDVR_Enabled" to 0

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\

Create key "GameDVR"

Create DWORD 32bit called "AllowgameDVR" and set to 0

If you're scared to mess around in Registry or you simply don't understand steps, Just simply google or try youtube, will make it easier. if you going to go registry route.

Keep in-mind that this is not 100% Success in fixing this problem, But it's one of the most common in Windows 10 regarding of description you both having. worth to give it a try.

There are many complains regarding the fps drop. For some users the DVR disable worked, others still struggle with this issue.  The thing is for all it started once people updated their  Windows 10 to the Fall Creators Update.

As of this morning its been more than 5 hours and I don't have the fps issue anymore. I manly reinstalled the latest graphic driver and disabled the diagtrack. .

Disabling the DiagTrack , also known as the connected user experiences and telemetry service, is also said helpful for handling Windows 10 FPS drops glitch for the Creators Update.

1. Click the Start button, and then type Services to open the Services App.

2. Locate “Connected User Experiences and Telemetry” under the Services (Local) category and then double-click it.

3. Click “Stop” in the “Service status” section.

4. Select "Disabled" under the "Startup type" drop down menu and then click "OK" to save changes.

Check whether the FPS dropping and game freezing bug persists or not.

If I will get the issue back I will reinstall old Windows 10 when everything was fine and disable any updates for this bad piece of software...

Good old times when Windows 7 was just fine...

This game is stressing me out on these annoyances....

First thing the framerate drops that only get fixed through alt+tab.

Second thing is after the last patch or a recent windows update I can no longer open the 64 bit client.

Running the 32 bit client I now suffer from Disconnects and game crashes and still have the framerate bug.

CPU AMD Ryzen 7 1700x

16 GM RAM @ 2666hz DDR4

Asus Prime X370-A motherboard

Nvidia GTX 1070

512 GB 960 Pro M.2 NVME

1 TB 850 EVO SSD

2 TB Seagate Firecuda

This PC was built 2 months ago I highly doubt it's a hardware issue unless if my PC specs are too new for this game to be compatible for some god awful reason.

Hi just checking. Have you installed the game on an SSD? I know this might sound strange in question. And with SSD it should make things much better etc. Unfortunatly alot of people i know even with SSD for faster start up gets same issue. What you could do is remove game revo install. and install luncher again be it if its ssd there np. But when you start to install main game switch to you HDD instead and put it on file BNSGame or so. And re start pc after all that to clear rams. The start the game and luncher. Are you see xingcode and client start to load yes it will take many minutes,,after like 1-2 min and game is still on login mode with solak screen shot kill client exe within task manager. and close ncsoft luncher wait 20sec. then restart and log in again once at luncher press start game. This time it will load much faster and within 1-3min you should be in the game. loading screen will ofcouse be lil longer but this should fix the fps issue and should get back to higher like 120fps. Which hope as temp fix until they optimize game even better. Reason for these issue happening it seems like when ncsoft move server to AWS. Some people suffered with bit higher ms and some abit better and still some get even 60+ when they usually had 20-30ms before. You pc with ssd and good cpu and gpu is just to fast for their server end to handle now that ms abit higher thz to their AWS migration,,,thats why some ppl put game on HDD instead to compensate for HW leverage their server end on loading basis. In short their server+game ingine just feels outdated that u need to rool back and make yourself abit weaker and hold back your true pc potential. They forcing this to make some middle value because some uses high end pc and some low end so they try find balance somewhere. Which end up if u have too OP PC some of fps still suffers this is kinda wrong on their end. Better HW should mean better gameplay exp. A person should never be forced to experience bad gameplay specially when you have good hardwire to handle and support it. Fault is not on your end. Its on their side unfortunatly and hope they can fix those issue!

Umm I already actually fixed my issue and posted it in a similar thread about the 64 bit client being an issue as a whole in that one. Just happens that both issues got fixed at the same time.

I am guessing it was when I uninstalled all the Microsoft Visual C++ redists followed by restarting my PC and then running the 64 bit client and now I don't have any issues at all.

Reinstall any of the Redists from the microsoft website afterwards. The 2013 will get rid of the errors on windows start up.

Edit: Still wish this game would actually utilize the full power of my gpu still though. The Ram and CPU are barely even touched either so I dunno what throttles everything down.

I have Asus ROG swift PG279Q monitor and I can get the same problem that I have 20-40fps. My issue is that I start the computer with a HDMI cable from my PS4 to the monitor. I know it sounds really strange but I took it out from the monitor and restart the computer and I know I have normal FPS.
