Windows 10 Build 1709 incompatibility

Hello NCsoft Team,

2 days ago, Microsoft released the new build version 1709 for Windows 10 (Fall Creators Update - 17th October 2017) with new features as well as newest fixes for security vulnerabilities including the new CryptoLocker protection. It is highly recommended to install, though it seems that Blade and Soul has some incompatibility issues running on this build version.

Target: 64Bit BnS Client is installed from previous build versions

- Game is accessible, but with a short blackscreen changing to windowed mode and many process loadings during game launch

- The In-Game FPS (frames per second) have a synchronisation/calculation problem after selecting a character

- The FPS are capped below 20 once you load a character

Target: BnS Client is not installed on your machine

- The BnS-Lite Installer is not working on Windows 10 Build 1709

- The base files of the client from the setup are being copied to the drive, but the NCLauncher is not

- Without the NCLauncher it is not possible to download the remaining game files, being unable to launch the game

I got the same reports from friends running this build version on their machines. Please check on this issue as it seems to be pretty much critical.

Cheers

RAID

ITs weird, i have the build aswel but do not experience anything of what you are listing. For me all works fine. I am not saying there isnt an issue but i find it awkward and i have bns installed on my desktop and 2 laptops all running windows 10 Build 1709.

Might want to check your AV and windows Defender as they do sometimes cause issues.

I have the same problem..after updating my windows i cant get more than 20 fps on the 64 bit client.

For now i play on the 32 bit client with 120 fps

i found a solution : The Problem is the Windows Fault Tolerant Heap ( FTH) / It activated on the 64 bit client. I had to manually remove the registry keys.

Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER versions of Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers\your_application.exe and delete the FaultTolerantHeap entry.

After that the 64 bit client works fine again with 120 fps.

The Fall Creators Update launched with some bugs on release date, which might have been fixed by now. MS is fast delivering critical updates for Win10 builds.

That's weird.

I wouldn't recommend disabling the FTH, even less deleting the whole entry. However, you can disable FTH by changing its value from 1 to 0. Be careful using the Registry though.

Has NC soft Addressed this? I went into Regedit earlier today and just could not find Blade and soul or client.exe or anything that looked remotely like our game?

I don't know. I am not running the Build 1709 on my main systems yet. I tested it on my VMs.

Do you experience some of the issues I've mentioned on my first post, or why do you ask?

Exactly so my fps has been aweful (7) to not quite aweful (best 30) since install, at first I thought it was my computer, which is not a beast; but I run Tera, GW2, Vindi, and Revelation online, (akk), so its not quite a toaster either and I really find it odd BnS should take so much tweaking on my part to just work.

My apologies for the delayed response, it was a very busy break for me.
