Non-paying players balance issue

All your so called argument does is show how entitled F2P players think they are and should receive free stuff when others payed a lot of money for it. Nothing going to happen.

its not about that they get their keys back, its about having the mats they got AND getting a 2nd pair of keys

then they should take the gains from first keys back, to include gold from items sold when they gave them new keys.  or, let those who did not get keys get double keys = to the number of average keys given to those with the "refund".  either way would be fair,

how could it be fair? some ppl trove for feathers, some for cosmetics, some for market mats

No, nothing will change if no one argues, not because you say so. And keep your bad analogy to yourself next time.

NCSOFT didn't just give them keys back because they felt generous. They messed up the drop rate and like a good company should, kept players informed about it. They fixed it by returning keys for those that paid. Getting to keep the loot from the buggy Trove is just a bonus. You as a F2P player have nothing to complain about. Had you payed for keys and been reimbursed you wouldn't be here trying to complain about it.

I imagine to take the loot from buggy trove back, NCSOFT would have to rollback servers which would mean a lot of progress lost for everyone. Do you really think that wouldn't cause a bigger uproar? Imagine all the progress made by players between the Trove and the maintenance to fix it. NCSOFT chose the better path IMO.

Proio everyone knows you will keep defending wallet interests. But since items won't be taken, and balancing it out with f2p players would affect someone who can buy 1000 keys almost next to nothing, I don't know what are you even doing here besides being a denier. If you hate f2p base that much and trying to keep them from being content, when p2p at the same time got more than they deserved, why don't you just say so, so we can stop arguing with your emotions since you're not using reason?

The easy solution that both parth will benefit ncsoft and player its this:all player at the first purchase of keys of this trove, that didint purchase till now got a 50% discont.if you buy 1/10/100/1k you get 50% discount.so the f2p wont cry anymore.whant same shit like the p2w pay for it and ncsoft gets more keys sold!simple like that!whant the same benefits like p2w pay for it or stop crying and be gratfull you can play this f2p game because of p2w players.no your cryings and filling forum with bullshits pay the salaryes and servers of ncsoulf, p2w do!so start paying or start farming!a lot of f2p ppl ar at max gear only by farming and dont losing time crying in forum about all the non sens your to laizy to do it!

You buy a 2016 Macbook Pro but the company sends you a 2015 model. They realise the mistake and send you the 2016 version but you get to keep the 2015 model too. Life just works like that sometimes. To be honest there's really nothing to balance. A publisher would rather lose F2P players than paying ones. F2P players are everywhere. If you aren't happy with those who spent real money keeping the game alive getting to keep stuff from a buggy Trove then feel free to quit. Because nothing is going to change mate.

A publisher is here to make money. Suck it up and move on sweet cheeks.

Well there's a big problem with this whole trove event in general. The gems. Why? Because getting a gem through trove is a guaranteed gem that costs you some of your time. Money comes through investing time in a job. When that time, is ten times lower than the time it takes for you to have the chance to get that same gem, we have a problem. That's a fundamental flaw of f2p games. They're so focused in keeping their whales that they make the farming really annoying to the point where Lineage 2 stats to look like a light grind. These things need to be balanced. At least to some degree. Publishers need to keep the f2p playerbase updated for the end game content. Why? Because the playerbase IS in a sense the content of the game. No players, much harder time finding people for dungeons, which translated into wasted time not actually playing, translating into unhappy paying players.

And as a sidenote, if their game is truly well crafted, people would pay to play. There are examples out there. Big games too. "People don't want to pay" only applies if the product isn't worth the investment. Don't just assume that everybody is skinflint when it comes to PC multiplayer games. MMO players are well aware that MMO games provide fun by perpetual content delivery. That content needs to be created, which is a constant money drain for the developer. It's a no brainer that we'll have to drop some dosh in order to have fun. I personally view a p2p game sub the same way I view my cable television sub, or internet sub. It's payment for recreation. If you think about it, paying a sub for p2p BnS would be no different from paying for gym membership. You go into the game/gym, do activities and interact with other people. I'm more than willing to put my money behind that. What I'm not okay with however, is putting my money into casino like systems such as trove. I do not want to pay for a chance to get something. Just like I wouldn't want to buy a mystery box with a chance to get bread from the bakery. That's not a customer friendly practice. And in a way it's a wrist twisting scheme, cause certain classes/builds practically demand certain high level gems in order to draw out their beauty.

I understand where NC is coming from with this trove gem thing tho - they need to secure that dosh in order to keep the game up and content coming. And lots of non paying players equals either higher bills or worse servers and maintenance. Considering how low latency is paramount, they can't really cheap out all that much on server costs. So we end up with a no win situation. They need the free players in order to keep the game going for the paying players, but they also need extra cash in order to keep the content on an acceptable level. Imo this trove thing is just a necessary evil. It might seem cheap to capitalize on human nature like this, but the bucks need to come from somewhere...

Also we need to remember that we get other events for obtaining gems now and then. So in a sense NC isn't really leaving people out of the gem game. Or at least I don't feel left out, being someone who only ever purchases outfits. As for the rest of the trove - I can hardly complain to be honest. Yes it totally destroys the gold:hm coin ratios, but on the other hand lowers the prices of upgrade materials. The only truly bad thing I can think of when it comes to this compensation thing, is that it could potentially allow certain people to monopolize certain stocks in the broker. Hopefully NC will keep an eye out for that.

As for free players - don't put horns on them and generalize to no end about their reason for not paying. Just how you dislike being judged based on shifty or nonexistent evidence, you shouldn't judge others. Chances are there are more than a few out there, that would put some money on the table if there is sufficient product on the other side of the counter.
