Gamepad right analog not functioning properly

The right analog on my gamepad does not turn the way i would like it to. I cant look up, down, left or right, but instead when point it on the corners of the anolog stick it turns. So if i want too look right i gotta point up/right or if i want to look down i hotta point down/right. I've spent a couple hours trying too fix this issue but can't figure it out. Also im using a speedlink gamepad. If any of you guys have come across this issue please help. Much appreciated.

Maybe you were in "free look" mode.
On Xbox One controllers you switch it with LeftBumper+Select.
