SP1 not recognized error may occur in combination with certain antivirus software (Norton i. e.) - in general "antivirus" software is not recommended nowadays, the most important thing is that your updates are always fresh! Try disabling an antivirus first if present. But similar has occured to me without any anitvirus as well with a manually installed SP1! Usually it is because some non-critical prerequisites for SP1 were actually not met when it was installed. You will see another "Service Pack 1" Option in Windows Update after the manual SP1 install which is only like <100mb in size - that is what you want. So: To hopefully fix the issue you should indeed install all updates! 1. Enable windows update, easiest with all Options checked. 1a. If Windows Update does not find any updates or "search forever" (more than like 10 minutes) install these updates to fix it. NOTE: You may need to switch to your countries language (i am at German...): System readyness patch (if no new updates are found): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20858 https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=48318 http://download.windowsupdate.com/c/msdownload/update/software/secu/2016/12/windows6.1-kb3205394-x64_71d0c657d24bc852f074996c32987fb936c07774.msu New Windows Updater (Choose the version for Win7 X64): https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/949104/how-to-update-the-windows-update-agent-to-the-latest-version 2. After that, all updates should be installed by the updater. Usually the update of IE8 to IE11 is a good indicator that SP1 is registered by the system. 2a. If it does still not work after all updates are installed (note: this may be risky!): Attempt to reinstall SP1 manually - or - attempt to uninstall and then reinstall SP1. You find it in the Software Section in the System Control Panel. After that repeat the update process! PS: I want dat wallpaper pl0x!
