Because that's how do forums works.

Lets say you have 100bns players. 20 of them are annoyed or bored by it, so they decide to quit. And 5 out of these 20 quitters will create a topic here about how bns is p2w crap and how ---insert game they are moving in--- is/will be way better while that 80 guys who stay here just keep playing and does not feel the need to make any topics on forum.

And about p2w itself, i would say that everyone has his own opinion about what p2w 'really' means and if bns is 'this' p2w, so it's nosense to take ANY p2w yes or p2w no debate really seriously.

Because the % of a good drop is super low, but you can buy another chance with real money. If you have a lot of money, you can buy the drop.

Because the game (wich we have waited foryears) and the community (like any f2p mmo). RO looks good, gonna move there in october. I'm tired of BnS.

There are events that became p2w in the past, the summer trove is one of them atm.

People have been attacking it since launch.

Unresolved bugs

Laughable class balance

Horrible server optimization

Etc....etc

People say it's pay to win because well, it's pay to win. I've never played another game that's even CLOSE to the pay to win in this game.

[Serious Question] Can you give us an example of the games you've played ? I'd like to understand your definition of p2w.

If you think the trove is p2w -> look at the Packages you can buy for RO. As it looks like this game is totally p2w - for example as it looks now you do not only need "premium" but also pay for scrolls...

That means if you use lot of cash you increase your gear in few minutes to maximum. So you can do newest dungeon more easy or Infinity tower you can easy reach top 10 if you know your class or atm you have a big advantage in BG, couse you do much more damage and that increase you chances to win.

lol, really?
I played one game, few years back, which i could just create a account and buy full gear(best gear in-game) from the shop with real money[had premium in the shop so you could get a okay buff for PvE/PvP], also had no balanced arena so was really P2W. You could buy POTS, btw isn't obtainable in-game,  would give me 100% HP.  When i was almost 1% HP I would eat the pot *BAM*100% HP and ready to kill the other 3 people attacking me, sometimes i could stay against 4 people and win because the pots.

If you cry about BnS about being P2W(is not), in that game you would break your keyboard after 1 week entering in PvP zones.

Here you can buy pieces of your gear and create it. Or just go 6v6 and check it, if it is balanced. Even 1v1 is not balanced, when the other one have all the HM skills.

With low effort, but thick wallet you can get 'em all:

BSH purchasable - ~50g

LMB - all mats purchasable now by trove event except the pellet, but this you can buy from some guilds - last pellet I saw for sale costed ~70g

RMB - Ember purchasable/ another part you can farm easy in CS, if you buy resets you can get it in 1-2 days - Ember ~400g

RMB2 - purchasable part 1, another 40 Naksun badges - ~80g

Secret Technique 2 is purchasable - both parts ~150g

Secret Technique 1 with average effort in BG

And to be honest you don't need so much money  to get' em all what is purchasable. ~ 800g + CS resets ( 40 are more than enough )

I guess 150€ would be enough.

Then you haven't seen Aeria. In one of their more recently closed games, if you didn't spent anywhere between 200-300 USD, you were fish food. And, unlike here, ALL of your weapons and gear could be purchased that way, putting a bigger gap between paid players and free.

I could go into much more detail about how that worked but I won't. All you need to know is this (And I got it from an inside source) that Aeria's money model was to get an  AVERAGE of 1.2k USD to get a max geared toon. That's how it was marketed to several perspective devs. Why else do you think Bless is on Aeria?

So, there's far, far worse out there than this.

I'll take a guess, was it Perfect World ? :o

Lets be serious here, WHY would you wanna use real money to buy those skills when you can just farm them for a week or 2 :D Are you really that desperate?

1. LB parts can all be purchased from achievement vendor for 1250 points (except the pellet)

2. BSH skill can be purchased from achievement vendor for 1250 points or CS merchant for 120 frozen orbs

3. HM block (300 page skill) can be purchased from achievement vendor for 1400 achievement points

4. HM block (yeti + necro) F5 or just farm them (more achievement points for you) 300g I think it was last time.

5. HM RB (ember) if you didnt get it from the previous event (oceanic weapon), farm asura 4-man, if you are lazy, wait for it to be added in black feather tab sooner or later (its in all other regions so its about time we get it too). If you are even more lazy, buy it for 600-700g

6. HM RB (mushin + nexus) too cheap

7. ROYAL ZEN BEAN!

8. Offals, cheap

And all those skills can be purchased from the PVP vendors aswell for no gold but a little efforts.

Technically it's KIND OF p2w. In this event, the more you spend the more chances you have to obtain valuable items (like HM Gems). Past events like summer chest were the same: you have to spend HM Coins or NCCoins to acess but the RNG is the RNG so ppl get mad. I saw MMOs more p2w than BnS, but we have another kind of community. The years waiting for this game on west made ppl mad.

Not 100% possible to get max gear and levels with money, but you can get pretty close.  You still have to play to get a lot of stuff that isn't available through the store / market, but you can definitely short-cut a ton of RNG with keys and the short-term trove events.  You also still need to farm levels.  last I checked you couldn't get instant HM15 through the store - gotta grind that crap out.  No doubt spending money on gold can take you pretty damn far.

I think most of the hate is due to the game starting off so strong and with near zero P2W trappings and having a very positive following of the players.  They made tons on premium subs and cosmetic items and had a good stream of new content coming out.  Then gradually it all changed.  Upgrade paths and leveling became ridiculously grindy and NC started wheeling out materials and XP boosters in the shop to make it easier for those willing to pay.  The gold exchange made it easy for those with deep pockets to get the best gear with minimal effort and time.  Exclusive items were introduced in events that only catered to those who spent  large sums of money and P2W players began leaving F2P players in the dust gear and level wise.  It became impossible for even the most dedicated free player to keep up with players who purchased gold and materials from the cash shop and exchange (and ofc from the gold sellers that thrive in a P2W economy).

This was only made worse due to the toxic side effects of elitism in parties where F2P players had a harder and harder time getting into groups with the better geared, the unwillingness of NC to do anything about toxic players who AFK in dungeons and PVP, the total lack of in game GMs to deal with the growing problem of cheaters, bots and spammers leading to the general feeling that NC cared less and less about player experience and only about making as much as they could before the whales caught wind of the next "Big Thing" and moved on en masse.

NCWest has had many chances to right the ship, and every time they have either done nothing or come up woefully short.  Most recently with the 6v6 changes and making it more important for players to take part in it.  This is where the P2W player and the F2P player are most unbalanced and therefore you see a great deal of negative feedback about matchmaking due to gear differential.  This also breeds more of the toxic AFK behavior as players feel this is a required task, yet they have no chance to compete on a level playing field so simply say "why bother?" and ruin any chance their team may have had.  Perhaps they will release a version of 6v6 that has gear balancing but I doubt it.  It's one of the only things that truly encourage whales to spend so they can revel in the joy of ROFLstomping their undergeared competition.

F2P games must tread a fine line to keep their dev teams and publishers paid and data centers running and stocked with well fed hamsters while not alienating the players.  Players must feel they are getting value for money they spend and trust the company running it to not screw them over in the quest for higher profits.  NCWest is hopefully learning from what has happened here and perhaps they will do better with the next game they bring over.  One can only hope.
