NCSoft did you reduce the success chance of upgrading Oceanic Weapon?

Seriously though. In the first 3 days, I managed to get 1 Stage 6 and 1 Stage 7, which is pretty good albeit disappointing. but this past couple days it seemed to get much, much worse.

I have not gotten any Stage 5 since Saturday. Today I purchased the Summer Groove set and get the 50 Standard Corallite and used them. Do you know how far did I get? Stage 5, and ONLY 1 OF THEM GET TO STAGE 5. Everything else doesn't even come close. In total, I purchased 32 Oceanic Weapon Boxes, and if you consider that I use 57 Corallite total (6 Coral and 51 Standard), then on average the furthest I get is STAGE 2.

WHAT is this? Is this event a scam? Is it just Money Sink so that not much gold is around? Well if you consider the fact that MOONSTONE PRICE WENT UP EVEN THOUGH YOU WANTED THEM TO GO DOWN while the easiest source of gold for rookies, Stingers, HAVE FALLEN DOWN IN PRICE TO 1/3 OF WHAT IT WAS, then WE DON'T NEED ANYMORE GOLD SINK, MOONSTONE IS ENOUGH.

Either increase the chance of success at lower stages of Oceanic Weapons (especially 1-4, they're horrendous. Roughly every 4 weapon upgrade attempts, 2 would fail at stage 2, 1 fails immediately, and 1 fails at stage 3 or 4), or remove them altogether. Again, if this event is supposed to be a gold sink, we don't need anymore of those. Thanks.

Sound like the case of a casino's 777 machine.

They modify the machine to have better chance of winning upon first days after opening to attract customers.

After they have their customers hooked, they lower the chance and start to make profits from there.

There was also a deleted article on reddit that stated that some Korean companies admit to do this thing with RNG Boxes, and was now demanded to reveal the rate by the law. NCSoft might, or might not, be among them.

In any case, it is said that when a RNG event happens, swipe your cards and play it fast to get better winning chance.

Sure thing. I think you are correct. I'll just use up my Standard Corallite and sell my Corallite to people who are more than happy to play the damn stupid casino.

And I really wanted the Ember too :( I guess I at least got the Bikini

This event is complete bullshit.

I can't even get a weapon past stage 4, I'm not f*cking kidding.

The only way to get that swimsuit is to assemble 150 pieces, that's it. Each piece costs on average 50s, so that's 75g for the swimsuit. Gotta love how NCW decides to troll all the non-wealthy players by increasing upgrade cost per tier. You know what I would've preferred?? 100% failure rate at stage 2. Yes I'm not f*cking kidding, at least it's 5s for the upgrade. Why the hell would I want to spend 80s on a stage 4 knowing it's going to fail 100% of the time and only giving me 4 pieces?

That's all this event is worth, end of story. Buying a swimsuit for 75g. Oh and not to mention you have to grind your ass off every single day for those corals.

Anyone trying to get 500 pieces for that gem... you won't get it. You're way better off waiting for another non-retarded event like the HM pouch that GUARANTEES you getting a gem if you work hard for it.

Success rate according to NCS/NCW's notoriously infamously bad RNG behaviour:

Stage 2: 50%

Stage 3: 33%

Stage 4: 25%

Stage 5: 20%

Stage 6: 15%

Stage 7: 10%

Stage 8: <5%

I'm sure this game already has multiple "worst MMO event of the year" award in the bag.

Lmaooo you should be glad that you at least made it to stage 6 and 7.

I used like 50 corals over the pass few days and the most i got up to was stage 5. You are actually among the luckier ones.

Like I said, the stage 6 and stage 7 that I got were in the first 1-2 days. The past 2-3 days I've only gotten 1-2 Stage 5. The 50 Corallites got me 1 Stage 5.

I started doing that on the first day too lol.

Oh my bad. I had assumed by past few days you meant the past 2-3 days, because that's when I felt like they secretly reduced the chance.

This happened to me twice in different times, 1st time the day after this event launched and today. Each time I purchased 40 weapons. This last time I had 91 coral to spend and with 40 weapons I reached level 4 10 times and never went beyond that. The same results as when I first tried.

In my opinion this is set up to make you fail, unless you're are extremely lucky and the stars align perfectly, to drive you to buy more coral via market or NCoins. In my opinion this borders on being rather tasteless and unscrupulous on NCsoft's part by designing an event that has an extremely low return rate. The Korean owners of this game are interested in one thing; how much money can they milk from their play base and line their own pockets with the profit they make off of a totally rigged system they put in place. Before you answer negative to that, Bernie prostrated that the system was rigged against him and 2 days ago the proof was released. I wonder what would happen if the same thing happened to NCsoft?

Nobody's luck is as bad as mine, 69 fragments now and still can't get to stage 6. I got up to stage 5 like 5 or 6 times. Thats even worst since thats like 5g wasted each time. At this point i don't even want the swimsuit anymore when i *do finally* get to stage 6. Probably just gonna get the naryu tablet and sell it for my money back lmaoo.

i'm selling tradeable corallites and from the bind ones i'm making stage 5 weps for stones. Its cheap and profitable. Already make like 300g this way so eventually i will buy ember from ah for gold i make from event. stuff, which is like 'rng free' reward.

Before they put the material bundle in the store that has the corallite and the moonstones, I bought the costume bundle a total of FOUR TIMES, for the corallite. I sometimes MAKE alts on any mmorpg I play, just for fun, to see how cool I can make my alts look, to save claims to character names in case I DO actually want to play an alt someday, and sometimes to "mule" stuff. Well, since this game isn't very mule friendly, given that too many items are untradeable, like consumables and upgrade materials, etc., and that cosmetic items need stamps that cost real money and only work on SOME outfit items to mail to your own alts, I had given up on the idea of even bothering with an alt. So I just stick with my force master that I played from launch, even though me and a friend wanted to play the warlock from the very beginning. I want my characters to be able to use and/or re-use some of the same items, and especially the wardrobe as a shared thing. -But this game is all about an RNG that favors NCSOFT and their game more than the player, when it comes to such things. I ended up buying the costume bundle four times for the corallite and ended up ONLY getting that weapon to stage 5 for the sunglasses after I just happened to accrue 150 coral fragments for the outfit! After buying the outfit, and then getting lucky enough to get the shades, I had ONE corallite left. They were the only two items I even cared about anyway. I wasted so much money on this horrible gamble. I had similar bad luck with the box with the shades, and before that the black coat with the red shirt, and a few other items. I would prefer to buy the costumes straight away instead of spending $200+ on a single gambling event. Yeah, yeah, they're just cosmetic items, sure. -But I REALLY wanted the outfit this time. I just wish it let me do the dance emote from the swimsuit in the bundle too. T-T

Yeah, NCSOFT preys on our desires for those pretty things and the RNG screws us to no end. It's my own fault for wanting that item that bad. It's their fault for running a super-fail RNG probability on low stages, like 1~4 on this event, and for making the standard corallite NON-tradeable, and giving us ONLY one per dungeon daily quest. It's worse that it won't even give the corallite in other dungeons' dailies - just a small handful of them. We spend all that time running each, then waste it all on almost-guaranteed fails on the upgrading. I eagerly await the OTHER swimsuits, but I hope I can just BUY them! T-T

Oh, and on top of all this, the Hongmoon Store wouldn't allow me to spend MORE RL money on Ncoins because I hit some supposed monthly limit. I hear it's $400/month, and I was like "Did I seriously spend THAT much money on this game, this month...?".

NCsoft, I'll buy your costumes - you can have my damned money for that stuff. The RNG box type gambling, however, needs to cease, forthwith.

You're pretty much guaranteed money for costumes and the other stuff. Some of us, however, have had it with the gambling mechanics.

From now on, I will not buy into those kinds of items. With the money I've spent on this game, since launch, I could've built a new, high-ish end PC, better than the one I recently built to run your game and BDO better.

Also, you're gonna make me cry. -Just a little, though. I won't give you the satisfaction of a full-blown "ugly cry". XD

My aim is only for the outfit and the sunglasses. Maybe some Nebula too.

I set my mind that I will only get them via Coral Fragments. Of course, since the only way to get fragments is breaking weapon, so I just continuously feed and break the thing. If I'm lucky, I will save some time. If not, I still have my stuffs steadily, though it would cost me like 50-60g due to the weapon chest cost.

The bad thing about this event is that they don't give you Asura Ember with Coral Fragments. Make it 600 fragments per Asura Ember, and you will have happier folk and more card-swipers.

Another thing is that due to the weapon chest being 30s, newbies, who are supposed to benefit greatly from lower upgrade cost, cannot join the event. Not mention of AP-gated dungeons, making them have limited access to the daily Corallite supply. Yeah they can buy from marketplace, but the cost for a Nebula through either coral fragments or luck would be high enough to negate the benefit of the reduction of upgrade materiels.

Lesson for NCSoft, if they ever listen: Viper Cap is the perfect event model that you ever makes for this game. Newbie friendly, doable at lower level, no AP requirement, harmonic mix of steady progress and RNG luck.

I already have 240 fragments and have only gotten ONE weapon to stage six! I want to try and get the AP gem with my fragments and the Ember with the weapons, but at the point I'm starting to doubt my chance of even getting legendary. The rates of evolution for this are terrible :(

I left AION (by NC Soft) because the frustration of fail rate on using enchantment stone to up grade gears, when it fail to upgrade to next level, not only we lost the mat, it reset to level "ZERO" back to square one.

When I saw this Oceanic Weapon crap roll out in this patch, guess what happen? I cancel my sub. Thanks NC Soft but No Thank. been there, done that, and it WAS NOT FUN.

Good idea. I've just done the same.

Had one s5 on first day, the rest failed on s1/2/3. Ether you are SUPER-lucky, or you spend all the hard earned Gold/Money for this stupid Event. Norm you should enjoy such events, but they are just frustrating.

BNS needs already to much time and/or money to get any further at all.

In my opinion, this game makes no more sense - at least for casual gamers (people not spending all their time and their money for this scam).

This should help prove the lucky players who got 10,000g from Windrest right after the patch. Right?
