Leveling to 50

Hi I just got back to the game after stopping at level 34, I was wondering if I did story missions only would this get me to level 50?

 

or do I have to do the side quests along with the main quests?

Main quest gives you huge amount of XP in no time, you can lvl up to 50 HM 5 + I believe

Side quests always give you extra XP, but story only should get you around level 48, depending on where in the story you are now at level 34

You currently cannot hit level 50 with just story quests.  However, there is a +XP event starting soon (Wednesday of this week, I believe).  As far as  I know, no details of how it works have been released yet.

Most of my alts ended up at 50HM2 after completing the story quests plus all side quests.

You need to do a lot more for 50HM5.

Just do side quests too. If you are in a hurry to get to endgame, better do all the quests you can atm.

Also, as Andrewgr said, there will be a leveling event this Jun 22.

Friend of mine leveled from 1 to 50 with the main story and side quests and also repeating quests few times to level her up to 50 to get the better soul shield so she could beat that Demon Lord. That was without premium or any exp leveling bonuses.

I actually thought the chapters go up to 40-50 something. I'm HM 5 and on chapter 36 so I just assumed so.
