Hey, so I have learnt to use the hongmoon weapon as it is the best by far, does this also apply for rings, necklaces and earrings? (as in is it better to upgrade them or should I use the ones I get from doungens?)

Yes, all of the 4 Hongmoon-Items (weapon and jewelry) are the best you can have if you continue to upgrade them.

Later (for me it was around Lv45) you will also need a belt and a bracelet. These 2 items do not exist as Hongmoon-Items, you will have to use others, like siren or pirate belt / bracelet and upgrade them.
