The marketplace tax is retarded

This is a GAME, why in the world are there THREE taxes for marketplace items? FOUR if you use pigeon to deliver it. Wtf is this, Tax Man for NES?

I just registered an item for 3S earlier. The "registration fee" is 5S, "additional registration fee" is 6C, and delivery fee is probably another few C. The registration fee is HIGHER than my selling price? Then why the hell would I sell it? Did the devs even bother checking what kind of formula they were using for this tax system?

Yes you are right this IS a game. Just because it is a game does not mean it does not follow real world logic. Blade and Soul has done a very good job at making sure there is as little inflation as possible. If there were to many taxes (in general not just in terms of market) then no one would have enough money for player to player trading. However if there were too little taxing we would have the opposite affect. Players would have so much money that what was once 1 bronze is now 1 silver and the problem would continue until 1 bronze is now equal to that of 1 gold previously.
The game supplies us with unlimited amount of gold through quests and mobs (if you have premium).  Thus it needs to tax part of that back to keep the value of gold consistent. This is also why there are vendors for items like unsealing charms. It sets a standard for the value of items. No player would try to sell an item for more than they could buy it from a vendor. Besides the market place tax is not that much.

You should press F5 or visit your local auction house. People sale unsealing charms all day every day for more than what they cost at the vendor.

They were selling for 11s per just before I logged a little while ago.

Most games (at least the ones I've played) have market fees for posting and sometimes for successfully selling as well. I would agree that the posting fees BnS has for the market is a bit overly complex with the different fees (posting, commission, daily commission, premium rank discounts, quantity fees, increased fees on some things for increasing time posted, instant delivery).

I think games usually have fees as a money sink. It helps prevent inflation in small ways.

May I ask what you were posting? I have not seen the posting fee be more than the amount I posted it for, though I have heard other people complain about it. It sounds more like a bug to me, since posting fees are, as far as I can tell, calculated from a percentage of the price you posted it for (plus factoring in premium rank discounts and quantity costs). A singular item posted at 5s with 0 Premium Rank, should have a posting fee of 10c with a sales commission (if item sells) of 15c, assuming the item was posted for 6hr (or cost did not change with time).

The way fees are listed is a little confusing though. Below the red boxed section shows that the "additional registration fee" has already been calculated in the "Fee". Also if you have premium (don't think they've fixed it but I dropped my premium so dunno), the fee that shows up in the registration window is the non premium price though the charged amount is correct.

The delivery fee depends on your level. At level 50, the fee is 51c. If you go to the vault/market/mail npc and pick it up in the mail tab, it does not charge the delivery fee.

A stack of items at 5s sometimes do increase the fee that you need to pay, so that might be it.

Also just go to a vault and retrieve your income instead of using instant delivery, in Silverfrost area, they even added vault to 24-man area, making it easier to go to the bank.

Posting fees serve as a gold sink and to stop players from using marketplace like an extra storage (yes this do happen in some game where players post useless stuff at 1c) It also serve as a deterrent to players that like to post, withdraw and post again at lower price, rinse and repeat every time the price get lower.

All I have to tell you is do you see anyone dumb enough to buy them? (Also please do not mention the ones that we all know are posted for gold sellers to buy.)

@Melodia I really would like to know what item are you selling that the selling price is lower than the fees. I have tried this with multiple items and multiple prices and yet I have never met a price where it costs more to place it in market than to sell. Could you provide screenshot of the item?

If you check the question mark near the item, you can see that the fee is actually something like 1-5% of the bundle price, reduced if you're premium. OP has most likely put a stack of items for 3 silver (the price you specify is per item) and it turned out lower than the total bundle fee.

I think you just explained why the prices cannot be lower than the fees. You will get profit regardless of the amount you put in the market. I have tested it out with Fusion Powder and I have yet to get the fees to be higher than the bundle price. I am not sure if they did actually mess up something for Premium users but at least as non Premium I always earn more than what I pay for.

Lots of people don't check the NPC before buying. At the same time, I have met people who forgot that the NPC sells those charms for 10s20c.

I personally only buy those if it's 10s10c or less.

So am I the only one that when I need them from market and I check they are at like 6s?

prices may differ across regions and time of day (usually things are cheaper in the mornings and more expensive in the evenings when sell slots have run out).

Also, the fees rise sharply once you have very high numbers: stacks of 1000 can have a 20% fee, meaning indeed you might lose 200 potions' worth on a sale of 1000 potions, just for fees. As crazy as this might look at first, it also helps preventing individual sellers from cornering the market and practicing extensive buying-up-to-resell-at-higher-price.

The fee system is very well thought through, but I agree it is not easily understood and it is important to check listing carefully to be sure profits stay optimal.

Dude, how are SS so cheap for you?

Is that how much SS is in NA server?

They've gone up to 28s as of today, but that's how much they were before on NA.
