WHEN Will Character Portraits Be Re-Enabled?

They didnt remove all the "p" photos in player profiles, so i guess they never will enable it.

I heard of the Taiwan(?) version there's a 3d model of your character instead of you choosing a photo, or something.

Hmm yes, I agree, just saying... I hope that isn't their plan instead of re-enabling the one's we had. :\

That's how BnS is without this fake "sandbox" nonsense they have. Honestly, I prefer that old method because then at least I could go and look to see what someone's character looks like instead of going to their profile and seeing a random picture of a cat or some shit.

That's also a good point. It's quite strange seeing totally irrelevant character portraits sometimes... like I saw one of a anime gif which was pretty violent and made me cringe. I saw another of someone's supposed real life picture too, and thought that's pretty attention-seeking.

It's been a month or so since the announcement of it being disabled.

and although they say it's due to "unintended formats" I think it's for several more reasons, such as pornographic imagery and the like.

I remember in Cerulean faction chat on Mushin, someone had the audacity to make their profile picture of their genitals, and whilst people poked fun at his less than adequate size, there was no real way to report the guy (Other than the usual customer service route), regardless of the many theorized reasons for it's disabling, we may never see it return.

Japan, Taiwan, China and Korea never had these problems, mainly due to maturity, but leave it to North America (Not sure about Europe) to ruin things for themselves and others.

+1 no need to change the system, add a "report innapropriate content" menu that's all
And a report afk/ report misbehavior are also necessary.

Sadly you cant compare the EU/NA version with the eastern ones. But then again its a cultural thing. Respect, decency and maturity is just not part of ours.

I do not see why they can not simply restrict Character Portraits to in game screen shots? Something. Seems a shame that a feature has to be deactivated. Oh, well.

I used to love taking screenshots of my character idle-posing, just to make it look all fancy in photoshop for my portrait photo, but now that's outta the window... :'(

It's why we can't have nice things.

 

I'm no longer holding my breathe that this feature will ever see the light of day here in NA again. Which is a shame.

 

To me it was just as much a part of character customization as the process of creating your character was. I spent a lot of time taking quality in game screenshots, cropping them just right, and adding them to my profile. Was a game unto itself.

 

Oh well, stay classy NA gamers.

 

Edit: Just saw the update on this, so I redact the part about never seeing height of day. Still, the part about NA gamers hold true.

because what you ask is not possible.

 

what are you going to do restrict the file path to that of the bns folder in the pictures section of my documents? that just means people will move the pictures they want to upload to that file path and bam they upload.

 

going to try to restrict the file type to only jpeg which is the default image type used by bns screenshots.... ok pretty much any image can be converted to nearly any type of image type. some do require a 3rd party program to convert the image but its far from hard much less impossible.

 

maybe a image size issue? well the size of your image is dictated by your graphics settings. for example my images are all 1920x1080. restrict the image size to 500x500 and I have to use another 3rd party program to compress the image down to the "right" size, and that still doesn't stop anyone from doing the same to their "inappropriate" images.

 

frankly I hope they just go to a simple avatar display like a few people mentioned before. it saves the headache, and you can view your friends avatar without having to move to them. yeah it takes away the "cute" anime pictures I see everyone running around with but you can always spend some more time in the character creation menu and make your character look like those images.

it is pretty crazy, day before they removed it, i uploaded my old photo from notebook, i had no other. It looks gross, i hate it, i want to remove it, only remove, not demanding replace, exchanged several tickets with support, all they do just universal answer. Wish they disabled system completely, cuz this solution is not smart.
