Is there any ETA on this, NCsoft?

 

it's been weeks now and we still can't register a character portrait (Failed to upload) due to you disabling it to battle the inappropriate one's. How long do you guys think a job like this takes? I'm just curious... I (and many others) miss having a character portrait already.

I know right. I got some fancy new outfits for my characters as well as a few altered appearances that I'd love to register as a portrait. This wait feels like forever...

There still ton of folks using porn images in game thats not gif image and didn't get caught yet so until NCsoft found a way to educated those kids then the feature won't be up for a while. If you don't believe me then go to Soha and check for yourself since naming here is violate the forum policy.

Permanent? hmm, I'd say at least a 3 day ban seems reasonable enough for some inappropriate portrait image. I wouldn't even mind it if they disabled the ability to manipulate your portrait photo from overwriting it with a photoshopped screenshot or something, and just let us at least use the basic way again.

Depends on how much it was inappropiate. A pron or na.. picture should in no way being pardoned for example.

What worries me is NCWest has a habit of disabling features outright, and never bothering to re enable or give and adequate response as to why it never returned, (Aion character profiles links anyone, or the entire website for that matter.

 

 The character profile feature in this game is one of the few things I truly enjoyed messing with. I found it quite original compared to other mmo's. It'd be a shame if it's removed permanently due to a few immature teens/adults.

based on some of the images people have uploaded as character images I wouldn't be surprised if they never set it back up, but if they do im sure their going to search for a system to limit the type of images that can be uploaded. frankly could use a character avatar style image like in the character selection screen. personally I think that would be a happy middle ground and would avoid any issues. though some have been use to the upload system and will miss the ability to use one of their custom pictures.

Would be nice to have this feature back. All I had was the standard Character profile Pic and they took that. 2 Characters and nothing.

 

If their reporting systems worked at all-for Bots, Gold-Spammers, inappropriate pics, etc.-let players post their Profile pics, if you see one that is offensive, report it. NCSoft could then decide if it was a violation of Terms of Service. As it is, I think that they have decided to disable this feature.

 

Were there really that many porn images? Did the Gifs cause that many problems? If so, just make it so you can only use an in-game screen shot. The pictures are already right there as a feature in the game.

If this forum gets enough attention NCwest usually puts out some kind of update. So anyone that cares keep this thread on the mods eyes so hopefully one of those yellow text genie's can appear and give us an update. Its sad that a thread has to get an insane amount of replies to get a response on a subject like this rather than basic periodic updates on the situation... A company that makes as much money as ncsoft shouldnt be annoucing a feature being temporarily suspended then say literally nothing about the issue for weeks.

Please NCwest you really need to handle your communication better Its getting very frustrating.

Needs to be perma. If the toxicity of the community is any indicator, punishment for jackass acts needs to be sufficiently high enough to be a deterrent.

I've been waiting for this feature to return for a while.. Personally I like to update my profile every once in a while, and like many others, I enjoy putting my own art there, as it's a nice personal touch. I'd really be saddened if this failed to return due to a bunch of idiots uploading porn. If that's the case, ban the offenders and move on. While I understand that .gif's and other formats may be incorrect and may mess with the system, they didn't really seem to be causing any harm, but hey, I don't know what that messes up on the server end. Still, I would've thought that would be fixed by now, given the announcement that said "temporary".
